Can anyone tell me how to use the search tool? I've tried using this to search postings about the 460 S&W and can't find any results. I tried just searching - 460. Thanks!

I have tried the search feature before. If it turns up anything it's very limited at best. I have even looked for my own posts with "keywords" that should bring them right up, and been frustrated with them not coming up. I just gave up on it. I must not know how to use it either. Maybe Gary can look into it for us, and smartin us up a little. LOL<LOL<LOL

I've investigated a little and basically 460 is too short to be indexed. Even 460 XVR is too short because the index would get huge and subsequently very slow if all the three letter words and numbers were indexed. Basically a trade off between speed and relevance. Magnum works and returns results with things like 460 Magnum. If you want to exclude results for 44 Magnum the put the string in quotes like "460 Magnum" or "460 S&W Magnum". It's not perfect but you will get relevant posts. One other common mistake is to not set the field that indicates the time frame you want to search. It defaults to newer than 1 week; change that to newer than 1 year if appropriate and you'll get more results.

OK, I went and tried it. I put "480 Ruger" in quotes and then changed the top time line to 1 year and hit submit. 3 pages of posts came up. I did not surf them to see the contents of each for the specific term, but hey I know how to do it now. Thanks for the education Gary.

Cool - the search still has problems because of the individual word length with things like "460 XVR". Hey could you get to the interactive edition from behind the content filter?

I'm at the apartment now.
I went to the interactive edition of the magazine and was able to navagate it well. All I had to do was turn off the pop-up blocker once and I was good to go.
AWESOME Gary!! Sure wish it could have been in print, but I understand the cost issue.

Thanks for the help with this! It sounds like there are other features of this site I've got to learn more about!
