I like the Ruger single six and with the WMR cylinder you have the flexibility to kill a little bigger critter and then go back to the 22lr for plinking. You should be able to pick one up for around 200.00-250.00 in good used condition.

Rod described my 22 'packin" revolver to a tee.

7 or 8 years ago I picked up a used Blued Ruger Single Six with 5.5" barrel and both cylinders for $185.00. I bought a little nylon holster for it. It goes everywhere I do in the fields.

Great options posted above. If you can find one, look at the S&W model 63 as well. It is stainless like the Ruger can be purchased, and holds up well.

I really like my Ruger Single Six. They can be found cheap and shoot really well if you match the ammo to the gun. I also own a S&W Mod 18 that makes a nice gun. Should perform well on small game.

A S&W mod 63 with either a 2" or 4" barrel has walked a lot of miles on my belt. You don`t know their there until you need them.

Make mine a Bisley ;-)

Rod, too.

I had a single six ss and loved it but I had to sell it. I would try getting one of those first or a smith. I have talked to a lot of guys that are saying the Heritage arms little .22's are alot of fun. They have put hundreds of round threw them and haven't had any problems with them. The are priced low and are single action. They have a bunch of different styles. Like I said I would try to find a Single six first. I plan on buying a couple of Heritage arms for Mrs. Rupe and I for plinking and taking small critters with it. It's not like your going to blow them apart or anything, they are still a good quality for the price of a new one. They seem to be selling them like hot cakes. So that's what I have learned about them. In fact I haven't heard anything bad about them so far. If that helps. I like new that's why I'm going with them. You just don't know what you are getting when you buy used unless you buy from a friend. There's my 2 cents.

If you don't mind fixed sights, I'd highly recommend the Ruger Bearcat. So much smaller and lighter than the Single Six (32 oz. for a 4 5/8" Single Six vs 24 oz. for the 4" Bearcat). It can be had in blued or stainless. Nice and handy little kitgun; no mag cylinder, though. Sweet gun!!

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a handgun today.

Oh yes, I forgot about that one. I won't mind having one of those Bearcats for a plinker at all. Good reminder Bisleyfan44!

You won't be sorry for getting a Ruger of any caliber. The little Single Six with both the LR and the Mag. cylinders is a great rimfire revolver. Good luck with getting the check book. Tell her you have a few thousand guys that are giving you permition. LOL
