I picked up an NC handgun scope 2-7 power for dirt cheap and we plan on putting it on a medium recoil pistol...what should I expect? If it falls apart on the first shot it's no big loss, because I got this thing new for nearly nothing. They are cheap at most retail places and I got mine even cheaper...so I thought it would be worth a try. Just wondered if any of you guys had ever tried them? I am a bushnell guy my self. Mostly because bushnell was the first brand I tried and I have never had one problem and I love them, so I just keep buyin em. Anyway it will be interesting to hear opinions on the NC brand.

I think it's ok for a .22; several folks here have had problems with them.

I've only had mine on .223 's or smaller . But I just put one on a .357 maxi . We'll see what happens. Even though there cheap they have never broken on me.

if you can live with failure, IF it does blow....it is worth a try. some go, n i hear some blow.
i've had a couple that were pretty much ok. but....if anyway possible, i'd rather step it up to a bushnell trophy 2x6($150+) as minimum, or all out burris 2x7 and 3x12($275-$300+)....or even scan the used market for such.

I guess you don't have much to lose if you don't have much in it. If you plan on hunting with it, I'd THOUROUGHLY wring it out to make sure it won't fail you at the wrong time in the field. It may never have a problem at all; it would just be a mental thing in the back of my mind wondering when?/if?. Good luck. I hope it works well.

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a handgun today.

That is the biggest reason I only go with highest quality gear I can afford. I have 3 Simmons scopes that have worked well for me, but that "when/if" thought was always nagging at me. Now they are all in boxes. Over time they were replaced with scopes that I have confidence in. More than likely they would have been fine, but when I'm on a hunt, I don't want to worry about whether or not my equipment is up to the task. I want to know whatever gear I am using will hold up under heavy use. A warranty is always nice to have, but it does not do you any good when you are miles from the nearest road or have the shot of a lifetime and your gear craps out on you.

I use that scope on my encore with a 15" 30-06 and it works great. No problems as of yet and I have put about 150 rounds thru it .

I've got relatively short arms and the eye relief on the one I had was too short even for me. I sold it before mounting it. I know of one feller in Alaska who has put a couple through the wringer up there with no issues, one on a 338-06 Encore.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I've got the same on a Striker 22-250 and have had no issues with it. I have had expensive scopes fail, too and since this was backed up with a lifetime warrranty, I figured for the price, how could I go wrong? So far, I'm really happy with it.
However, when I put the .300 WSM barrel on (i.e. a higher recoil and longer ranges) I'm pretty sure that I'll be putting the Burris on it.
I'm pretty much the kinda person that if it works and was inexpensive to boot, who am I to complain?
