Two guestions guys there is a FA 454 field grade at a local sporting good store on consignment for 1200.00 was thinking of making the guy an offer. What would be a good price on this gun. Also i have a 204 ruger for my TC. I'm looking at a 3x12 Burris handgun scope, but i've heard you guys talk about using a rifle scope on some of your handguns, what do you think?

the price on the FA is normal for the used ones I've seen and maybe even a little high. I've used the 3-12 Burris and like it alot on guns with little recoil. I'm not experienced with the rifle scopes but several of the guys here are very qualified to answer that question for you.

Does the FA have a scope or sights, Pachmayr grips or ?? any extras ???

You should be able to get a good used standard Field Grade 454 for about $1000......I got mine for $1025 shipped with box, paperwork and upgraded sights.

I see alot of them listed on the auction sites higher than that but they dont sell, just keep getting relisted.

You should be able to get it for $1000 depending on the caliber. Some calibers simply get a higher price. .357's for example, don't sell very well and often go lower than a 454. If the guy won't take 1000 then go another $200 and find a nice premier grade 454.

Thanks for the info. on the FA, how about the scope for the 204 Ruger.

I have a 15" 204 Ruger barrel for my Encore and plan on using a rifle scope on it. I have a rifle scope on a 223 and 218 BEE barrel.

Just give yourself some generous eye relife for the first few shots until you are use to the recoil movement. With a firm grip you should be able to get a full field of view and not have the scope touch your face.

Hunlee have rifle scope on 7-30 water barrel for short time as scope blackin eye of hunlee!!!!!XP and FART have riflr scope on they gun but they have muzzle brake on there!!!!!!Muzzle brake take recoil away butt noise level increase!!!!!

Personal choice I guess. I have a Mueller 8-25 power scope on a 218 BEE barrel, a Weaver V-16 on a 223 barrel, and a 4.5-16 Nikon on an XP 100 in 221 Fire ball. The 16 and 20 power are more than enough for work out to 300 yards. One thing to look for is a rubber ring on the occular bell. Both the Mueller and the Weaver have it. That way if scope/face contact is made there is a little protection there.

The 223 Encore doing it's thing. The rifle scope helps me alot with the longer shots. I have taken charlies over 200 yards with the 223 barrel.
