I am always looking for another good deer caliber. I have read several post about the 41 Magnum, but always in a revolver. Has anyone got a 10 or 14 inch TC barrel that they use for hunting? I imagine, like most other rounds ... you would get another 150 200 FPS out of it. Would that be enough to change the 41's effectivness?

What is recoil and accuracy like?

I don't have TC bbl, but as far as the 41's effectiveness, I'd say there isn't really much to improve on. You can get 1400-1500 fps from a revolver with just about any 210-220 gr JHP out there which is more than required for any whitetail. You will probably get more velocity and maybe more accuracy from a TC bbl, but I don't think you'll see any more "effectiveness", esp. on deer. Great round.

if you want have some more fun with it Reeder can take the 41 up a notch or two with the 41GNR which is 44 mag necked down or I have the 410GNR which is a 454 necked down and I'm running a 210 XTP at about 1850 out of a revolver so I'd guess you'd gain another 100-150fps out of a 10" barrel.

My dad has a 12" barrel in 41 for his old style Contender. He's using Lil'Gun and getting close to 1800 with 210gr XTPs and a max load. It will shoot clover leafs and it has a heck of a punch on the giving end. He used it on an Elk hunt 5 years ago out in Wyoming. I'm pretty sure he was slinging heavy cast at the time. He got a nice 5x5 with a 75yd +/- shot. He didn't go far. Most of the time it is used for Whitetail and Blackies in Virginia.
