A Long Eye Relief or Intermediate Eye Relief 20 to 25 power that is made by a major scope manufacturer that would have excellent optics and would be good for load development, varminting, short range benchrest and long range benchrest.
Would you be willing to pay the same amount for this kind of scope that you would for a rifle scope of the same caliber?
Would you buy one?

maybe.....if i had a barrel designated for strictly bench/target/long range varminting, and had money to spend.

I for one would be very interested in a long eye relief scope of that type.

Yes I would. I love the rifle scope on my 221 FB XP. Sometimes I find the 16X just not quite enough for the really long shots, so twenty might be better. If I get the next XP project off the ground the short eye relief might not work so well with heavier recoil. Intermediate eye relief would be a plus.

XPhunter,

In addition to the 20 or 24 X it needs to have an exit pupil at least equal to the 3-12X Burris, which is 2.8 MM at 12X. That would require an objective lens of 56 MM for the 20X version and 70 MM for the 25X. I would pay as much for the handgun scope as for the rifle scope but, it has to be usable in the field for PD and ground squirrel from a bench or prone. Don't forget target knobs and AO.
