Hey guys, I am forced to switch the rounds I use in my SBH to the Hornady 300gr XTP JHP. Anyone else use this round with good success? I was shooting a platinum 250gr WIN out of my .44 and now no one seems to be able to get them around here.
thanks,
Rob

I had great accuracy out of a SBH with a 5.5" barrel, open sights using 2400 powder max. loads at 25yds. about 2" groups and 50yds. about 3"+ groups.

I have not used the factory ammo. But I can say I love the bullet. If you are going to be reloading 2400 should be awesome in it. I am using H110 with VERY good success. If you set them on the second crimp line you can add 2 extra grains of powder from the book listed max.

Midway has the Platinum tips in stock for 28.49 and the Winchester 250gr Partition Gold regular 33.00 for 25.00

my son uses them in his 44mag, max load of H110-and he shoot about 2" at 50 yards.
He killed a 260 lb boar with it last year at 65 yards, blew clean through both shoulders.

I'm using the factory loads. these new ones are supposed to have the following speeds. Muzzle= 1150 50yds= 1084 100yds=1031
Seems pretty hot for a 300gr load.

That looks like a direct “textbook” load from the Hornady reloading manual for a 300 grain bullet!
