I have the S&W 500Mag. with the 10 1/2" barrel from Lothar-Walther Custom German Rifel Barrel. Well taking to someone who has a gun shop told me I wasted money because the 8" reg. barrel shoots alot better. I'm not a pro and don't know everything so just woundering from the pro's on here what ya'll think. I thought by buying this one it would perform better. I'm a big boy did I go wrong.

Well that just maybe his opinion because maybe he owns an 8" barrel S&W 500 Magnum. I run into those types myself in our local stores touting what they think they know.

What kind of accuracy are you getting now out to the distances you will be or possibly be taking game at?

not at all, the PC guns have tighter smoother actions because they are assembled and fitted by gunsmiths in the custom shop and the barrels are higher quality, with that being said the factory 500's will shoot but to me it's worth the extra if you can afford it to go with the PC model.

You wasted your money Dave, should have gotten a RSRH in 44 mag with a 7.5in bbl. They are much more accurate... LOL. Not sure how accurate the 10" bbl is vs the 8"bbl, but I doubt it was a waste of money. If your getting good groupings and have no performance issues, then your good to go.

to tell you the truth...Id say If you buy something because you like, it makes you happy, suites your needs, and shoots fine you shouldnt worry about what others are saying...everyone has their own opinion on things.

Btw, I have the 8 3/8" interchangeable comp model and Id easily say its my most accurate handgun, I like it, I get all kinds of crap from people for owning it, because many people just dont understand why someone would need that...but hey, its what makes me happy.

I have more guns than I need, but not nearly as many as I want...

Attention to all! The most accurate gun statement is overated! It is the shooter that makes that gun do the talking. The gun will and should always do the same thing over and over! It is only as good as the man doing the shooting! As far as wasting your money. If you buy the gun and are not doing what you want to with it, then you wasted your money!

You will always have somebody pumping up another gun. That Smith you got is a dam fine gun!! I chose a PC in 44 and it is a tight gun. The only flaw I can find is that I can't stop touching it! It all boils down to what you fancy!

I think I'd find another gun shop. Really, what kind of shop is going to tell a customer he wasted his money on a gun like that, which you didn't.

I agree with if you like it and it puts the bullet where you want it to hit, then what is more accurate then that? If you are hitting the bulls eye with a 2" or a 10" your still hitting the bulls eye.

And I suppose he had side by side personal data to back up his statement? If I took every tale I heard/overheard at a gun counter to heart I'd be even more screwed up than I am now ;-)

If it puts 'em where you want 'em what more could you ask. Enjoy!

Gunshop drivel!! too bad it came from the other side of the counter. Most of the time it's from some rambo wannabe all dressed in camo that has nothing better to do than hang out in all the local gunshops and graciously give his opnions.

Thanks to all for the info.I don't have the time as others to shoot.Just about a month ago the redid a indoor rang and he said I am welcome too shoot my 500 mag.,two others want let me. Sorry im a city boy with a counrty living dream. I guss the guy was made because I never bought it from him. I guss I'm not like that if I see someone and even if they are just shooting a daisy bb pistol I'll just say hey nice gun HOW DO YOU LIKE IT. Once agin thanks for info, I'm new to site and like it very much. The other day I soent about 3 hrs. just looking around snd learned alot. Oh ya, I only had it for littel over 2yrs. and just getting around for long distance shooting and knowing what the gun can do. I just wanted to get use to the gun and knowing how it acts. Face it I know going from shooting a 41.mag 7 1/12' barrel to the S&W 500 mag is a BIG differance.

I don't think you can go wrong with a PC gun. When I bought my .460 PC it came with a special certificate (1 0f 500), scope base, sling, gun case and a box of hornady ammo with matching serial number all for only $100.00 more than the basic gun. I'm not sure if all the PC guns come with extras but to me it was a no brainer.

I never got the Special Certificate with it are they suppose to have them. and didn't have a box of hornady ammo. It did come with a shot casing with info on the evelope. I got gun, nice sling, nice soft case and scope rail already on gun. And it was bought brand new.
