very cool! I looked into the parts and kits they have at Dixie Gunworks but I wasn't sure what kind of quality materials they have, do you buy kits or make everything from scratch and where do you get your materials from? I've been thinking with all the time on my hands of making hunting knives for my sons for Christmas.

You mean that your 500 doesn’t kill, gut, and skin that bad boy in one shot? LOL

One of them would look good on my gun belt with my 44 and come in handy when field dressing my White Tails. I like the hook .
I have one now made in Col. by an Indian that used the shinbone of an Elk as the handle and LCO blade.
It’s missing the hook but is a fine knife that a friend gave me as a gift. Your knife would make a fine gift for one of my hunting friends.

I'm from New Jersey and started with a hand gun In 1964 reading Skeeter’s Hand Gun stores.

JimNJ-Pa,
I would be more than happy to build you a guthook for yourself or to give as a gift.
To order it dosn't take any money up front as the only deposit I require is your word and a Phone Number
Thanks guys for all the nice comments,it feeds the ego

Gene,
I bought an electric furnace and read the spec sheets for the steel that I use and also cheked with other Makers that did their own Heat Treating. I sub zero quench by using Dry Ice and Acetone
All steels that I use are Air Hardening
Thank You for the question and the nice comments

I too really like the guthook with the Smith. I like the deep finger groove/guard (when hands get bloody or cold or both they tend to slip...). Looks like all the knife I'd need for mooses around here.
Finances say it will have to be on the "Maybe someday" list, but a man can dream! What would the guthook with a basic sheath(as shown)?

Vance in Alaska,
The starting price for that Guthook is $180 with Maroon,Black,Red or Green Linen Micarta. As shown $200 as that Micarta is no longer made and comes at a premium price.
All my knives come with a 9oz Handstiched/Wetformed Leather sheath, Right or Left Handed.
As I stated before no deposit is required with an order and delivery time is about 18 weeks at present time.
Thank you for looking and asking
