Hi, I am fairly new to handgun hunting. I bought a Ruger Super Blackhawk with a 10.5 inch barrel 6 month ago. I have been shooting it often and have an accurate hunting load I am happy with.
I dont have an acceptable way to carry this revolver during deer season.
What type of holster do you guys with similar sized guns use while hunting?

I have a Bandoleer Holster, but I have a scoped revolver. I chose the Bandoleer style because I do alot of hunting in tree stands. Not sure where you are hunting as far as terrain. I,m sure you will find some info on a holster for that gun. Oh, and that is a nice Ruger you are going hunting with!!

In my opinion your two best choices are the freedom arms shoulder holster and a holster from pistol packaging.

Thanks for the quick replies.
I had been thinking about the bandoleer style, I'll check more into it.
The Pistolpackaging Bandito Shoulder belt/ holster set up looks pretty good.

Don't discount the FA holster. They are very comfortable to wear. I carry my 10" 454 in one.

Pistol Packaging Bandelero Set up woks out real well as you can use the belt and dhange the Holsters and Carteidge holders out for whatever gun you want to carry.
I have been selling them and using them since 1996

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I don't own a revolver with a barrel that long. I carry my 5.25" custom Blackhawk in a Mernickle crossdraw holster and my custom 4" Redhawk in a Simply Ruggered holser. Both carry the gun very comfortably.
