Hey All, To make a long story short , I bought a new Lone Eagle pistol in 243 Winny at an auction . First shot out of it would not eject , found the problem after tapping the spent case out with a dowel rod , the case has a bulge in the middle of it large enough to not let it eject. Took it to my gunsmith who said all I could do is to rechamber it. Meanwhile I call Magnum Research they say AHHH tOOO BAAAD !! I tell them it was clearly reamed wrong at the factory , they say thats a shame but they don't care ! So what cal. can I have this rechambered for ? 240 Weatherby is all I can think of . And where can I get this done ??? Thank Tony V

although I don't have first hand experience with them you could look at the 6mm-284, 6.17 spitfire (Lazzeroni), 240 Weatherby or the 240 Gibbs. I'm not sure what pressures the action on the Lone Eagle will handle and I don't have case dimensions handy but I think all of those are larger than the 243 win. Any competent gunsmith should be able to rechamber the gun for you even if they don't have the reamers on hand there is an outfit a couple of smiths have told me about where you can rent the reamer.

I meant to ask, did your gunsmith mic the outside of the barrel to make sure someone didn't balloon the chamber?

I did not ask him if he did , but this guy is good and I am pretty sure I was the only one to shoot it other than the factory . and the Lone Eagle has a bull barrel on it in stainless steel . looks good to me.

After micing it looks like 6mm/284 is about the closest I could go.

Would it be cheaper to have it rebarreled vs. having to buy the dies, brass, and rechambering cost? I honestly don’t know I am just throwing it out there.

I just learned another thing: Don't purchase anything from Magnum Research.
Don't confuse shooting with hunting. Shooting is a game, hunting is a sport.
