Well, I said I would do an update on my new to me 10" 7mm-08 with the cheapo NCSTAR scope on it.

First of all I love the 7-08 barrel it shoots great and it has really turned my attention away from my longer pistol barrels. I LOVE the 10" configuration and dont think I will buy anything longer than 12" ever again. This barrel is SWEET.

The NCSTAR cheapo scope has held up fine so far. The recoil from this barrel is not bad but pretty solid at the same time. I have not had a problem to speak of yet (knock on wood).

That's great. It's always nice to find out something you bought works better then you expected.

What loads are you using? What muzzle velocities? I have been thinking of doing the same thing, but I am concerned that the muzzle blast will be quite large.

The Lyman book has some nice info on 12 and 15 in pistol barrels for the 708. If you want I can e-mail you the data.

Mcbain,

The muzzle blast isn't that bad. Recoil isn't as bad as one might think either but I am shooting pretty light loads. Im not sure about velocities because I don't have a chronograph. I will look up the exact load Im using im my notes if you would like. Just shoot me a PM as a reminder (I'm not near my reloading notes at the moment).
