Can anyone recommend a bullet for 7-30 Waters that will not cause too much pelt damage on coyote? I'm shooting 120 gr NBTs now, but I think they will leave a large exit hole.

I would think a small <100gr SX style bullet or a FMJ in a 120-140 size. I like the SX option best

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

I don’t know but I am throwing it out there. How would a hard cast bullet do? I have, Sorry HAD, a friend at TC that shot hard cast with AA2460 with very good luck.

I hope you don't mind my 2-cents as I still don't have a 7-30 waters barrel. I do however, shoot the 7tcu. I hope this is some help. I never got the chance to use them on a coyote but I really like the Speer 115gr hollow points. I used the almost exclusively for woodchuck hunting in my 7 TCU. 2460 is the only powder I use in my TCU line of barrels but again I can't speak for it's performance in the 7-30.

The late Bob Milek in an article on the 7mm T/CU and 7mm BR recommended the 115gr. Speer Hollow Point in either of those cartridges for Coyotes. He wrote that that bullet is really hard and at Handgun Velocities leaves small exit holes.

Personally I would try the 120gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips if I had some loaded up. In fact that is what I am loading in my SST Super 14 7-30 Waters, and if I get a crack at a Coyote while totin the 7 I am going to do my best to smack a COyote with a 120gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip.

I'll have to try the 115 gr Speer HP. Hawkeye80863, how explosive were the Speers on woodchucks? I'll try the NBT too, but I'm afraid they will tear the hides up on exit. I have been happy with them on antelope though! I do want some expansion to put them down faster so I don't want to use FMJs or hard cast.

The the 115grn HPs would put ping-pong ball size holes through a standing chest shot. I did shoot some 120grn BTs back when they still came 100 to a box. They were actually more accurate than the 115 gr HPs in my 10" 7TCU but I could not justify the expense on woodchucks. The BTs opened up those chucks a little more maybe a golf ball size hole.
