I have a TC encore with Fox Ridge 50 ml pistol barrel--using
300 gr. Scorpion PT Gold Polymer Tip + 80 gr. blackmag3 powder=1550 fps.
I got 3 shot- 4 inch group off of pistol bench rest yesterday at 100 yards. Twice
Had sighted in at 50 yards last year and resighted in again at 50 yards. Held 3" over heart on silhouette deer target.
Had similar results last year with 300 gr XTP's.

More loads can be seen at High Performance Muzzleloading-all are for rifle but you can adjust. They have report on Blackhorn 209 which I think will work good in the pistol.

Reviews of each of these can also be found at http://www.chuckhawks.com/index2h.muzzleloader.htm scroll down 2/3 of page to "powder cap and primer".

I recently got an MGM 12" 44 mag barrel with closeable brake. Shoots soft and accurately. Look forward to hearing about your ml barrel.

Double check the DNR Regs in Va. about blackpowder pistols.

Over at specialty pistols there is a thread on Muzzle loader pistols. One member there is using two of the new 777M pellets behind a 240gr XTP or 250gr power bel. Velocity is similar to 44mag. Lots of good reading on that thread.

Thanks for your input guys Scott i know what you are talking about the ML PIstol law in VA I have had the barrell constructed to carbine length over 16in so is not considered a pistol due to length of barrell just using a pistol grip.

Medic, I use 2 50 gr pyro pellets with the Horn 240 gr XTP Mag and it shoots into 1.5-2" everyday with a 2-7 Burris. Plenty of power although a bit difficult pushing the bullet down the bore. Very tight fit.

Be careful. You may run into trouble with the DNR. If you're using a pistol grip, I think they'll consider it a pistol no matter the bbl length. I don't think it would be considered a carbine w/o a buttstock. If you haven't already asked this of a game warden, I would.

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a handgun today.
