Taurus 425
.41 mag
stainless
4" ported barrel
uncle mikes vertical shoulder holster

Hoping to get my first deer with it in a few weeks. With a 4" barrel and open sights, whats a realistic range for this round. I've been confident at 25 yards offhand.
thanks. -jon

ps- the websight is great!

Okay, the one in the upper left is my SBH Bisley 41.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Ruger Hunter 41 Mag. Great pistol. Good whitetail gun in my hunting area.

Your good too 50+ yards if you can keep em on target. It's an awsome whitetailer.

The useful range is only limited by your abilities and your comfort shooting at those distances. I'd try to stay 50 and less with irons, but that's a measure of my ability, not the round. The 41 will kill a deer at 100 or more; it's your ability to consistently hit at whatever distance that would determine your limit. Welcome to the forum.

This picture shows four of my hunting guns. The .41 mags are the Old Model Ruger Blackhawk and the Redhawk.
The S&W is a .44 mag and the Contender is a 7-30 Waters. I had a .41 mag Contende barrel but sold it. Somebody kick me!

nice collection ravenman, I like that model 57, I had one just like it that to this day I kick myself for selling, it was a real shooter.

Thanks wapitirod, Love all my 41 Magnum's they all are keepers. Never seen a 41 Magnum that gave bad performance. Have also a TC Contender 10" in 41 Magnum with Aimpoint. That gun shoots about 1.5-2" every day at 50 meters.

I used to have the exact same setup! I no longer have the gun, but I do have the holster. I once killed a coyote at 40 yards with it, but the ported barrel was so loud!

One shot, one kill.
