I have this pistol with tc rubber grips all lined up for hunting season. I got some pachmayer grips and forarm to put on. Will it change the accuracy or should I put it together and fire it again before hunting

YES it will change the accuracy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every time I have changed grips it changes groups and even point of impact. It has to do with the harmonics AND frequency of pitch and vibration or wave. Particularly with the Pac’s. I have had problems with the Pac’s every time I have used them. They look good but usually cause “Me” a lot of headaches. I had my 22-250 shooting 3/8 in groups with the hard plastic grips and had to fight to find a load that would shoot 1 in with the Pac’s on the barrel. I would look at Ol Jim’s grips and go that rout.
Just my HO. Everyone has them just like posterior ends. LOL

Hey tcman, I shot the 308 with the pac's. It did change the point of impact about 2" at 100yrds. dialed it in and i can't believe how much it tamed it down.It was't bad to begin with but now it is even better.Going on a wheelin sportsman hunt this weekend with the old smoke pole. Thanks for the info you guys are great

Glad it is working for you Gene! I like the Pacs Grips and just use a different forearm.

Have fun with the smoke pole this weekend. What caliber is it?

TCMan, that's exactly what I do, works like a champ. It seems like if you stay away from the forearm you're ok.

I was talking to a gun smith today where I work and he said that it might be both the grip and forearm. He said that not holding the gun the same way will change it. I was shooting a wood grip sunday in a 44. I hit with it and the pac grip.So I agree with you guys that the forearm changes more of point of impact than the grip. Thanks for the heads up. I might of missed this fall not knowing why except I just plain miss sometimes.Good hunting

Log Lewey, the grips are http://www.olegeorgiajim.com I really like them. I drooled over Tig’s until I finely just got a set.

I keep the Pac grip on the 270 because it absorbs more of the vibration, AKA kick. I put a forearm that is set up for a hanger bar to help “tighten” the groups a little… maybe!?! I have plans on keeping the rig like that permanently. Gene I think you are right about the grips as well. I “should” dampen the overall harmonics of vibration. I know this is overkill but I actually have a forearm for each barrel and even keep the same grip and frame setup.
