I can't wait! Taking the Ruger SRH again, I've had good luck with it. Hoping for another good year... Anyone else hunting in Maine?

Yes, good luck.
I'd love to hunt moose in Maine at least once.

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a handgun today.

Thanks all... I've never hunted for bear or moose yet, always after the illusive White Tail.. Maybe some day I'll try for bear. Not enough freezer room for moose. (:

That's something I want to do as well. Maine is closer than Alaska....Would love to hunt moose there. We do have a lot of moose back home as well - harvesting some 80 000 of them each year, on a territory not bigger than California - and they are a traffic problem as well - many cars hit by moose every year. But we're not allowed to handgun them, so ME or AK seems to be the ticket for me...

James, what's the probability to draw an out-of-state moose tag in ME? Let me know about your luck...

if my brother gets drawn up there I'll be seconding him on his moose hunt. I'm bringing my SBH and he'll have his bow. Gonna have to find a heavy solid core round.

I baited for bear in southern ME this year but it was coming in at night and I never got to see it. Could have shot at least six deer while in the stand waiting for a bear, one nice 8-pointer, then archery season comes and no deer. Firearms starts this Saturday and I'll be in the stand with my 12" Encore 44 mag hoping all of the others folks in the woods will work in my favor. Good luck to all.

Opening day went well! My buddy Duane got a 8 point buck. Sorry guys, it was shot with a rifle (An old 30-30 Winchester). He has been hunting for 30 years and this is his first. A very nice deer and a perfect shot!
