Here`s another "what gun would you use" post.....
Three situations- three handguns:
1) Cape buffalo broadside at 40yds
2) Mule deer " " 98yds
3) Coyote " "170yds

My choice of handguns 1) FA`s 475 using Belt Mtn. 390gr Punch
bullet.
2)FA`s 454 with handload using 300gr partition bullet.
3)Contender in 6.5JDJ using Sierra 100grHP.
PS- right now I think we could all use someting else to talk about then what happened yesterday.....

#1 would be my 4 5/8" iron sighted Reeder 475 with 375 or 425 gr cp's although I've considered trying to build loads with solids meant for the 470 Nitro.
#2 and #3 would be my 7-30 contender with 120gr Nosler Ballistic Tips.

Well,

#1 SRH in 480 Ruger with a good heavy bullet.

#2 XP100 in 35 Remington with 180gr Hornady SSP

#3 Encore with a 223 barrel and 50gr Blitz King

I have a lot of other options especially for #1 but I don't want to ruin the pattern and post something not in 475 caliber. LOL<LOL

2. Freedom Arms 454 with a 260-grn Nosler Partition
3. Contender in 6.5 JDJ with a 100-grn Nosler BT

1) Cape buffalo broadside at 40yds

probably never will in this, or the next lifetime, but i'd use one of them big ones!
if the 375jdj is big enough...i guess i'd use it.

2) Mule deer " " 98yds

i guess the same thing i use for whitetail. the 35remington, 30-30AI, and a 7mm-08 if using the encore.

3) Coyote " "170yds

i'd use one of the small 6mm's. the 6x45, 6x47, and 6tcu would be perfect.

Alright, how is this?
(1) FA 475 With(I have no idea!)
(2) Encore 7mm08 with 139 SpBt and Varget
(3) Contender 6mm TCU with 70 Sierra and H335 (this barrels is shooting one hole groups at 100 yards!!!!!!!!)

Is that better Rod? It spreads the wealth a little more as well.

1) Cape buffalo broadside at 40yds = pellet gun to the nads (just to see how tough he really is)

2) Mule deer " " 98yds = 44 SBH Hunter (never shot a mulie with it)

3) Coyote " "170yds = 308 encore (why not?)

A .475 is definitly on the wish list. I bought too many toys this year (including both .454 Casulls)so it might be a while.

Apparently Tigger knows a thing or two about nads, so I think He has changed my mind. I think I'll trade my pellet gun for something bigger. Do they make a 450 Nitro in the Encore? Thanks Tigger.

Why not a 44mag with some garrett ammo for #1
and 44mag with 250gr nosler partition for #2
and I'd have to let the yote walk because I don't have a pistol for that distance or call him in closer
