hello, got the plinking load off of this site for the 3o-30...great load!!!..thnaks.......i now need a load for 357 mag using unique and 140-160 gr bullet for deer and similiar.....also interested in a plinkling log for pot meat...any suggestios......will be used in 27-2 with 6 in barrel.....also will be geeting 10 in barrel for my contender in the near future......thanks mack

Not much help from me...but my plinking load uses W231 w/ 158SWC's at about 800fps. My heavy load uses Lil'Gun w/ 180gr Penn TC bullets at 1300fps.

I have a mod 27 with 8 3/8" barrel and the following load was pretty accurate from my gun. 158gr FP/XTP over 14.3grs of AA #9.
This was taken from a Hornady manual and listed as a max load. I
hav`ent used it for hunting but I`am sure if you used either the HP or FP XTP bullet on a double lung shot you will have your deer
The S&W model 27 is a excellent revolver and used to take many
deer. The late gun writer Bob Shimack used his to hunt whitetail in his native state of Pennsylvania. Good luck, James
PS- when you get the 10" barrel in 357 for your Contender the solid barrel will put your 357 into 357 max territory with velocities....
