I'll be needing a scope for the new XP project. It will be a "medium" range venture...350yds max and chambered in a light-medium deer cartridge hopefully. Thinking of trying a Weaver 2.5-8X...they seem to be in the $200 range. It's been a while since I've bought a new scope...usually just find something in the ads on this board.
Anyhoo...where are you fellas buying optics? Or are there any good sales going on right now?

check natchez, they seem to have the best prices and they also have the refurbished scopes. right now they have the refurbished Nikon 2.5-8 for 169.99 for silver and 199.99 for matte, the new price is 289.99. the weaver 2.5-8 are on sale for 184.99 with a regular price of 319.95.

The optics zone usually has the lowest price along with Bear Basin. If I remember right any order over $300.00 gets free shipping from The Optics Zone. The Optics Zone Bear Basin The affilated company to the Optics Zone is Clear Ridge Optics. It's John's own line of scopes with a Full Lifetime Transferable Warranty. The new Ultra XP is a good looking scope with a side focus turret. Clearidge Optics

The Weaver 2.5-8 is nice, but it does not have the over all FOI the Burris 2-7 has. For the money the Weaver is a nice scope. Have you checked out SWFA? SWFA Handgun Scopes Weaver 2.5-8 on a Bullberry 7mmTCU

NES...I have a Bushnell Trophy 2-6X on a Contender 45-70. It's held up through a couple hundred w/o any problems.

My SRH has a 3200 Bushnell and it has been threw 200+. The second one I bought I had on my 45-70. It now resides on my 6mmPPC and shooting ¼ groups. I don’t know if this helps or not.

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

If you are looking for a fixed power....go Weaver. I have a pair of fixed X Weavers on a matched pair of Hunter model RSBH's. They are loaded stiff and the Weaver's function perfect. Awesome prices too!!

I am looking at the Bushnell 3200 and the Burris 2-7 for my SRH. Awaiting for the 3200 to come into see which has better eye relief.

the Bushnell has a more constant eye relief than the burris and the burris has clearer optics. imho

Welome to the site AfghVet02. Out of the two scopes you listed, I prefer the Burris. You really can't go wrong with either one though.

Welcome to HH AfghVet02!!
Both are good scopes, like you say compair them side by side. Alot of times it's personal preferance that makes the choice.
