I was able to take three men out yesterday for some long-range shooting with specialty pistols. One was 17 years old and the other two were in their 30's.
All three specialty handguns we were using were XP's in 6.5 (two 6.5-284's one reargrip & one centergrip, and a center-grip 6.5WSM).

Two of the guys had never shot a specialty pistol ever before that day.

Watching them all hit steel consistently was a joy.
In fact, there were no misses by anyone at 482 yards.

It nice to help what some may consider almost impossible, to become not only possible, but easier than they would have imagined.

Hop in your car or get a flight!

They drove for either 13 or 14 hours straight to get here.

It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

The man who has the 6.5WSM XP put three shots in less than 5-inches.
This is my rear-grip BR XP-100, 6.5-284, using the SEB Rest.

I just corrected my earlier post:
I meant to say he put three shots in less than a five inch group @ 1,121 with my rear-grip 6.5-284 XP.
As you can assume, the conditions were great.

James...only your back sight needs raised higher!

This may be a road you do not want to venture down...it's a slippery slope that can have you sliding down hill FAST!!

Since listening to Ernie and Steve, I now have guns that won't get pointed on paper at ranges under 250yds unless they are zeroed at closer ranges. Even with those, I'll pop two off to check zero then stretch'em out. Then you'll get into stuff like my Lil'Moster...if she shoots a group over 1.25" at 400yds, I'm having an off-day or I start re-figuring dope charts or......

this long range shooting thing sounds like a blast but unfortunately where I live now if you want to shoot over 150 yds your either going to upset a dairy farmer or you have to shoot across canyons and setting up targets just wouldn't be fun.

Some places it is all but impossible to shoot at LR.
Sorry you are in that type of an area.
