I want a barrel for contender that will reach out to 200yards for deer. Which would be better 7x30waters or 30-30. Also I don't reload. Thanks

both will work but the 7-30waters is hard to get factory ammo
for the 30-30 you can get in any mom&pop or retail store
i have the waters but that is because i got it first

I'd go with the 30-30, 14". They are pretty available and fairly inexpensive. 30-30 can be found anywhere and is often on sale for $10-12.00 for 20.

factory 7-30 waters ammo is most likely pricey and harder to find. for factory.....i guess i'd choose the 30-30.

naaaaa.......i'd start handloading my ammo n get a 30-30 Ackley Improved or 35remington.

There ya go! Plus you can shoot factory while stocking up your fireforms. I have the Waters and love it, next will be the 30-30 AI I'm thinkin'.

Yes, you can shoot the Hornady's new leverevelution in your Contender. It's a pretty accurate round and does a good job on whitetails, at least in my Contender.

You are right. That is important when looking at cartridges! I handload so I know that I am still going to be up a creak with out a paddle. With the 30-30 AI you can still shoot 30-30’s out of it in a pinch. You can also find cheap practice ammo.

Just send it down for a ream job later to convert to Ack. It is actually pretty cheap.
