I grabbed my used and put it on a the Savage mod 99 that I took my buck with. All I had done with the rifle prior was to have it bore sighted and benched to get it zero'd. Next use was in the field with dead dear at 200 yards.

I personally have never had an issue with Simmons Scopes.

Got one on a 6.8SPC Contender and one on a 45-70 Contender, no problems with either.

I have a fixer 7x that I use in IHMSA. It is on a 30 Bower AK (like the 309JDJ. I put 100's if not 1000's of rounds through it...never a problem. Same with a Simmons 2x7X, never a problem.

I have one Simmons rifle scope I keep it on the shelf. Any one asks about it I have them look thru it. When they try to adjust it ,they can't. Simmons won't repair or replace it. I would NOT reccommend a Simmons for any reason.

I have one on my 223 'Tender and one on my 7-30 Waters 'Tender.
Both have worked very well for about 4yrs now and I have taken plenty of animals with them. Yes, there are better scopes out there but I still wouldn't feel bad about shooting a Simmons.
I do have a Burris and Leupold so I've looked through a few scopes.

Had a Simmons 6.5-20 44 Mag on my old XP-100 17 Mach IV. I can't remember what bullet i was shooting at the time, nor the velocity. But i had an aftermarket Stoney Point tgt. turret on top of it. We were shooting some milk jugs at long-range once, when a crow landed on a cattle pond dike at a lasered 540 yds., i think it was (been awhile but i think that was the range). I checked the drop chart for 550 yds. and told my buddy to dial in however many clicks it was for that calcd. trajectory, and he gets set up to shoot. I was watching thru a spotting scope, and i told him to favor the wind just a bit. Mitch shoots and i watch as i saw the bullet impact the water, but i thought i saw just a hint of feathers fly up. The crow takes off and glides out onto the prairie. We watched him land and went back to shooting at the milk jugs. Couple minutes later, i look over at the crow, and sure enuf he's dead. When i was playing around with this optic on this rig, i never found it lacking in any way.

I have a 2-6x on my 7 TC/U and it has not failed me, i'm not a fan of cheap optics always lived by the you get what you pay for motto, and it has never been more true then when dealing with any kind of optics but the simmons pistol scopes are very good. Plus J.D. Jones used to put them on all his pistols at one time.

I have had quite a few of Simmons scopes. The only one I have ever had a problem with was on my 7mm Mag rifle. It just couldn’t take the beating. My 2-7 handgun scope has been on 4 barrels. I think as much as it has been threw that I will not have ANY problems with it. I can’t remember what Gary said but it was something like 5, 50, and 500. Just magical numbers for scope going bad.
