Anyone have any experience reloading/shooting the Barnes XPB bullet?

I was at sportsmans warehouse yesterday and was looking for bullets to try out. I have had good luck reloading barnes rifle bullets and picked up a box to look at. Thinking that 18 bucks was not to bad a price for fifty bullets I then looked at the quantity....ONLY 20 BULLETS?!!!! Put that box down like it was pure poison and left with some Hornady 240gr.
Just wondering what peoples experiences are with this bullet before I spend that much money.

100% weight retention, 2X expansion and accurate as anything in a 44 mag and a 357 mag. We love em here. Oh... and we have no choice in the matter in CA anymore. No Lead Allowed. It's always funny that people will spend so much on gear/knives/guns/hunts, but won't spend an extra 50 cents per round on the item that actually does the killing!!! The xtp is a good bullet but the barnes is the best. However dead is dead and its more inportant to put it through the boiler room than shoot a premium bullet! We dont shoot anything but barnes cuz we feel they are the best, but thats just my oppinion.

I have to agree with is that a cub. Been using them for over 15 years in handguns...they are the best performing bullet i have ever used. I have had great luck with them. Revolvers and single shots.

I have never used them but would like to try them too.Would the 225gr. bullet be a good all around bullet for deer and black bear? I have a S&W 460. Any help is appreciated.

I think they only make a 200 and a 275 for your 460. And yes they would be amazing deer and bear rounds. Cor-Bon is factory loading both weights, and because they are a sptizer design they are being used out to 200 yards.

Here they are on midways site
http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=343602

200's @ 2300
275's @ 1825

Call barnes for load data if you want to handload. They will gladly send it to you.

Good luck!!

I believe I saw the 225 gr. bullets in the midway catalog. I'm assuming this bullet is okay for the 460. I downloaded some reloading data from Hodgon's website for my 460 and it gave loading info for this bullet weight.

I stand corrected.
They do make a .451 (460) XPB in 225. It is however not a spitzer design so the max range will be less. Barnes states that its intended for a 45 colt. You could still load it however and it would knock the snot out of any deer or black bear you'll ever see. Give barnes a call (great people) and they will send you the load data for just about every powder you'd ever want.
Good luck and knock em dead!

On a tangent! I've lived in both California & New York. Both suck! What are they worried about? Lead poisoning?

ya
they think the condor might digest a stray lead bullet! So now we gotta shoot critters with solid copper stuff.
