Bought my Super Redhawk .44 last week and put a Nikon Encore EER scope on it. All the research I did indicated not to skimp on the scope b/c of the recoil they experience on handguns. I shot 6 rounds through it and the cross hairs in the scope came out of alignment with the centerline of the gun. They rotated to the left. Thought I had bought a good scope. Anyone else using one of these? So far I'm not impressed. It's shipping back to Nikon tomorrow.

I'm using that same scope on my Custom Reeder Blackhawk chambered in 475 Linebaugh and it's been fine so far. I really this the scope but, I'll keep my fingers crossed...KRal

I received a call from Nikon (Vic Zimmerman @ 310-414-5140) and he informed me that Nikon would like to replace my scope (mind you it only has 6 rounds recorded to it) with a brand new Monarch. He informed me that Nikon is having "a few little problems" with the Encore and they are "remanufacturing" them. They do not have any in stock...and their answer is to replace them with the Monarch. He told me that the Monarch is a "superior" scope...I question why it's priced $100 less than the Encore on their website. Maybe the BDC reticle is that valuable?? I can get my money back if I wish...which I am doing. I recommend anyone that has a Nikon Encore scope to call Vic at the number above and ask him for a reimbursement. I just bought mine and the new and improved ones are apparently still in production...no recall even though they know they have issues. Sounds like it's just a matter of time before your Nikon Encore fails like mine did. Sucks to spend $300 on a scope and have it crap out after 6 shots!! Call Vic and get your money back!!!!

sounds like a good time to order a Leupold, it will set you back a couple more bills but you'll love it and I have yet to see one fail, not to say they haven't but since I've been on this board for about 4 or 5 years now plus many years of using them before hand I've never seen a problem that wasn't customer caused.
I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them. John Wayne-The Shootist

I don't know Rod. I had the exact same problem w/a Leupold 2X on a 44 I used w/steady diets of 300's. The cross hairs rotated a "skosh" & never moved again. I've sent it back to the factory twice & they say it's fine. I figured I would just use it & have been since. That was 1993. It's also been on a 454 w/narry a hickup. Still anyone who looks through it can tell.
