Tigger asked a while back if you could only hunt one animal what would it be.Now here's one for you.If you could only have one handgun and one cartridge to hunt with the rest of your days what would it be.I would say my Ruger redhawk in 44 mag and 250gr Nosler Partitions over 23.5gr of H110.

If I could only have one, God spare me the day. I would pick my 309 JDJ. Shoot a 165-grn Nosler BT @ 2400 fps. It is accurate and can handle everything I hunt.

I would have to go with my 7.5" BFR (that thinks its a Ruger) in .454 Casull. My 6" FA .454 would be a close second, but its scoped. If I could only have one gun, it would have open sights. I have not loaded 300 gr Partitions for this gun yet, but that bullet would work for anything I'll be hunting.

Tough choice. It would be my 41mag. I reload so ammo is not a problem. Loaded with the 210 grain Penn's over 291 it will handle what I hunt.

Boy this is a tough one! Guess it would be my Ruger SB hunter. I like the option of Iron or optic sights. 200gr wadcutters at 850fps for small stuff and target. 240 gr xtp at 1350 for deer. 300gr hardcast at 1250 for anything bigger?

My encore in .308. Does the trick with great efficiency.

now.....IF the question were asked differently......
i could possibly pick an encore deer barrel and a varmint barrel.....a contender deer barrel and a varmint barrel.....a revolver.....and a 22 auto....and of course a bolt pistol er two.
in an encore....i'd take a 7-08 and 6BR....or maybe a 358win and a fast twist .223.
in a contender....i'd take a 35rem and a 6x47.....or maybe a 30-30AI and a 6tcu. no wait....a 22lr match barrel is a must! gotta have 3 contender barrels to even survive!
a revolver....i'll take a ruger super blackhawk hunter....or maybe a FA, since $ is no object on this.
gotta have a ruger 22 auto....i'll take the fluted hunter model....or a competition target slabside.
i'll also take a xp 100 in 6BR....AND a 6.5WSM. i'm takin 2 here since barrel change out is not as quick n easy.

I guess I would take my trusty 7-30 Waters 'Tender. I could reload to whatever I'm shooting, if its a big critter...get closer! I'm a bowhunter at heart so it doesn't bother me to stalk to bowhunting distance...I like it, gets the heart beating!!!
If money was no object..........I would hire 3 others guys to carry the ones that I wasn't carrying!
I don't harvest animals, I kill them...I don't take a Combine hunting!!!

Well, if I had to use just one barrel for all my hunting, I guess I would have to go with my Super 14, .45 Colt/.410 barrel. Handloading it with 9.3 x 74R brass and hard cast bullets would make it an accurate .45 caliber weapon that would allow me to take very large game. The .410 would work for squirrels, grouse, etc.
