For hunting loads, should you decide to use the .357 Mag, I only load hard cast 180gr bullets from Penn over a stiff charge of Lil'Gun. My brother uses these in a Winchester M94AE carbine. He's taken several deer w/ no problems. One time he put four holes in one deer with one bullet....it was quartering away looking back over its hind quarters. The bullet entered at the hind quarter, exited the other side, re-entered the neck and exited the other side of the neck.

I'm also interested. I have a very accurate Vaquero that if I can find a good load I might use it next fall for deer. Mine seems to print everything pretty much point of aim. I use it for backup when hunting Yodeldogs. I hate it when they sneak up behind you. Sometimes mountain lions and bears make an apperance.

I have a Ruger Bisley in .357mag. with a 71/2 in. barrel. I use it for hunting small game and coyotes. It shoots great. I shoot a 158gr. Speer hp bullet with 6.3 gr. of green dot powder. This load is not a great power load but it gets the job done. I don't want to rip the hide of the coyote all up. I have seen some coyotes, were the hide was in pretty bad shape after being hit by a hi power load from a .357 mag. You will enjoy your .357mag. if you reload because of the different loads that you can play with and taylor a load for your gun. Have a great time. Dennis.
