It was a balmy 50 deg in central IL today so I took a new box of Rem. 22LR (Wal-Mart special) and my Smith 17 to the range. To my dismay 2-3 rounds out of 6 on average, were underloaded. Very little recoil and report, almost no penetration on the backstop, and my shot placement was all over the paper. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Take note of the lot number and call Winchester. They will make it right and would be very interested in the problem.

Hope you have better luck with there customer service than me. They acted put out by my problem, and took me 3 day's to finally talk to a manager. And the best part was I didn't even get to talk to her, I just over heard her say to the cust. rep, too just give me some brass so I quit bothering them. What a bunch of loosers as far as I'm concerned. Tell everyone I meet to never buy win products if they can help it now. See what good cust. service does for your buisness.

Seems like there quallity control has been slipping for a couple years now.

In 1960, I had a clean 1 year old Remington pump action .22 rifle BLOW UP, on a crowded range, locking the bolt half way back, blowing off the extractor, etc. using Remington .22 ammo. Was it a squib stuck in the barrel followed by a full power load, or something else? Don't know. I've never bought another round of Remington .22 ammo. Never will. Have shot hundreds of thousands of Federal and Winchester since then, though.

I guess I've been either lucky or fortunant. I've been shooting the Remington 550 count ammo(walmart special) for years in my contender and ruger 22/45 and have never had that problem. I've had a few "no fires" but, considering how many rounds I've fired (hundreds of thousands), that's not unlikely with any ammo. I will keep all this in mind though....KRal

I have had bad experiences with the Remington ammo as well.
I would get 2-3/50 shots that wouldn't fire. This is why I use Federal ammo only in all my .22s.
