A rifle barrel can't be under 16", so does that mean a pistol barrel can't be over 16"?

thers no max barrel length for pistols unless its a state thing, but min rifle barrel by the feds rules

Best to check your local/state as some do restrict lenght for a pistol, New York comes to mind right off as one.

is there anything NY doesn't have stupid restrictions on when it comes to guns?

s4s4u is right NY does not allow a handgun with a barrel over 16" in lenght.
Also remember that once the overall length of the pistol is 26" it meets the definition of a rifle. It's just a pistol gripped rifle. That also can be illeagle in some states.
