Anyone use one? If so, what do you think?

There have been a couple recent posts with questions on that round if you want to do a "search" for them. I don't think anyone that posted had a .338 Fed barrel though.

it seems like someone said they had one ordered but I haven't heard anything else about it.

I just purchased an Encore Pro Hunter Pistol in .338 Federal. Fitted with a Burris 2-7X handgun scope and Pachmayr Decelerator grips.
Had it at the range last weekend. Shot about 40 rounds of 200 Grain Federal Fusion ammo through it to sight it in and get comfortable with it.
Recoil is stout but totally manageable. You can feel that Pachmayr grip loading up and taking the sting out of the recoil... higly recommended.
This is my first hunting handgun. I'm very comfortable shooting from the bench with it. Nice groups at 100 yards... haven't tried 200 yet. Tomorrow I'll be practicing with some real world shooting positions.
All in all, it was a real kick in the pants to shoot and I'm very impressed with the accuracy. I like the gun alot.
Any questions about this gun, let me know. I'll try to answer.
Erik

Welcome to the site KZ! Did you run any rounds through a chronograph?

Thanks for the welcome.
No chronograph... will try if someone has one set up this weekend.
I saw one person online report that he'd chronographed this exact same load at 2425 fps from a 15" encore pistol.

Here's a video clip of me shooting my .338 Federal TC Encore Pro Hunter from a Bog-Pod Bipod. You Tube Video I find it very challenging to shoot accurately at 50 or 100 yards while standing and using the bipod. When pig hunting, we're often walking and stalking so I feel like it's important to get confident shooting from a standing position. The bog-pod bipod is much more stable than a mono-pod, but still quite challenging as compared to shooting from the bench. Next assignment is to practice some sitting positions and prone. Having fun with this gun and hoping to get my father in law tooled up to reload for me... ammos's starting to add up.

Update on my .338 Federal. I did a trigger job with the Bellm springs (2-2.5 lb spring) and wow, what a difference in accuracy. My confidence is building with this gun. Hopefully I'll be able to hunt with it soon. Here's another video... having fun. You Tube Video

Seems like are very cool caliber. I've been thinking about getting rid of my 338wm barrel and getting a 338 federal.
