Has anyone ever use Butch's Bore Shine. Pro's & Con's.
I read about it in the Lyman's reloading 49th edition.
They say no need for brushes. Is their another product like this too compair too. Thanks for your input. FYI I'm cleaning SS barrels.

I have used it. Very strong ammonia smell. It seems to work along with all the other "fast" removers.

The smell really got to me so I quit using it, and went back to the old standby

havn't used butch's but i've heard it is ok. i think it may be similar to shooters choice bore cleaner, which is what i use.

a couple yrs ago my shooters choice bottle was half empty....so i refilled it with kroil for a 50-50 mix i had read about. it does fine. not sure it's any better, but it ain't no worse.

you guys should try remington 40x bore cleaner. walmart has it here. it only takes one patch worked back n forth several times. comes out black as coal. alternate wet/dry solvent patches before n after.
the rem bore cleaner will give clean patches faster than anything i've used. cuts patch numbers in half!

I have used it for years, it works really well except for the smell it is fantastic. then i found Montana extream the smell is just as bad but it works better then Butch's. but if you want no smell and a great cleaner try Bore Tech is is not amonia based so the smell is not there. any of the three are wonderful and will get the job done.

I've been using Sweet's 7.62 as my copper solvent of choice for years.

I use the Barnes CR10, it was recommended to me by the guys at Nosler for removing copper.

I've used Butch's for years and it has done well. I also use Sweets to great affect as well on copper. I've also tried the bore foam from various manufacturers and it does work ok.
I haven't tried this but I have read on other forums that some guys will plug the barrel and fill the barrel with Butch's and let stand over night. Pour the solvent out and run dry patches through it and then oil. It is supposed to be very effective.

....ok....but nobody pay any attention to the rem 40x bore cleaner advise. don't listen to that, n try it yourself.
just pay it no mind. i shouldn't be giving out classified secrets anyway...lol.

i got the idea from one that shoots more than all of us put together. a sillywet shooter. again.... it works fast on gettin clean patches.

I'm cheap. For general purpose cleaning I use Ed's Red. For copper I use janitorial strength ammonia.
