I use my .50AE and .44Mag Desert Eagles for deer, hogs, black bear, etc. The .50 wears a 2x Leupold and the .44 has a Leupold/Gilmore red dot, although that has seen it's better days. Despite their movie reputation, mine are both as accurate as my various wheelguns and a pleasure to shoot once you get used to the slide recoil and the torque it puts on your wrists as opposed to straight back recoil.

Does the polagonal rifling do well with cast bullets??

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

never tried them in either of mine as the jacketed stuff has worked just fine. My guess is that it would shoot just fine, but might lead up the gas port, and the bullets would most likely feed poorly as neither of mine are fond of flat points...

no bear yet, but still have a few days left in the season... It drops feral pigs like a sledgehammer (325gr. speer unicores) though!

I remember shooting a DE 50 when I was a teenager. It did not seem to recoil that bad if I remember correctly. I do not remember what the ammo was though.

Ruger SRH 44mag 7.5", Encore 223 12", Encore MGM260Rem 13", Ruger BH 357mag 4-5/8"

I think they're pretty cool. I've only shot an original 41 mag. Too big a grip for my little sausage fingers though.
