I am in the process of loading some bullets for my 358/356 Winchester. I am starting with the 180 SSPB Honady and 47.0 of H4895 OAL 2.635 & a 225 Sierra BTSP with 44.0 Gr of H4895 OAL 2.765.

I want to stay away from round nose bullets if possible. I am thinking the 180 will work out best but does anyone have a pet load for this Cal?

Shooting out of a 15" Encore Heavy Taper with a brake on it so recoil should not be all that bad.

My favorite 358 Win load, in my 20" custom rifle is a 225 gr Sierra w/ 49 gr of IMR 4320.

I'm curious, do you have a 358 Win or a 356 Win? Not sure what a "358/356 Win" is. I'm guessing since your're loading 47 gr of H4895 with a 180 gr'er, you have a 358.

I have a 356 Winchester MGM custom barrel there is no differance in the 356 & 358 other than the rim. I am shooting 356 brass but I have the 308 ejector if I ever want to go back to the true 358 (most likely will not I like the rim). Same loading data

Do you get good expansion out of the 225?? I like that heavy bullet I am just not sure if it will expand very good at the lower pistol vel's

I really don't know if I got good expansion from the 225's. I shot it a lot for about 6 months, took no more than a few deer with it and never recovered a bullet. I built that rifle years ago cause someone gave me a Douglas blank and I had several receivers collecting dust.
