I hadn't heard about them going under but I've noticed that most places it's easier to find Encore than Contender barrels. Midway has the largest selection I've found of Contender barrels in stock but Natchez and EA Brown also have them but I hate dealing with Brown, they are slower than slow.

That's a bummer but in this economy not surprising especially since smith took them over and already started marketing the icon rifle as the s&w ibolt. I guess it will be a custom shop thing in the future if you want more barrels.

It's been stated that TC's problems is not necessarily the economy, but the way S&W has handled the company since they acquired it.

Better get your frames now if you are going to I guess. There are a bunch of barrel makers but only one place for frames. Could be a wise investment ;-)

Although I will believe the demise of T/C when I see it. S&W has been know to be real bean counters so.....

It would really surprise me if T/C went under - with the success of the ProHunter and all the press they've gotten (Icon, TV shows, etc), I would think that would take some extreme mismanagement. But stranger things have happened.

And right after I get my first Encore(s)!

wow... just recently acquired my first encore.... and in New York, one has to buy the frame and barel seperately because that way TC- or the distributor can get around the "fired case for a fingerprint" issue.

eabco said had barrel and that my order was being shipped then next thing I know they email and said barrel is on backorder. They have poor business practices. I told them I did not want to backorder and canceled all my order. Got barrel ordered from Ed's and in stainless for about same price.

If T/C closes the doors don't be too surprised if someone like Cerebus picks them up.

If they ever get back up and running. It's been about a year now, or so it seems.
