I am looking for a good .22 LR revolver with around a 6" barrel. I was wondering what you guys might recommend. I don't want to spend a whole lot on it because it will just be for practice and the occasional tree rat. One thing that is very important is accuracy....I cant even MAKE myself keep a gun that's not accurate (relative to the particular type of gun).

You can't go wrong with a Ruger MKII or Single Six.

If a revolver is what you want you can't go wrong with the Single Six, if accuracy is most important get a MKII or MKIII target and fit it with optics.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

Economical, excellent revolver : Ruger Single-Six Semi auto, generally significantly more accurate than the Single-Six, in the hands of an excellent shooter: Ruger Mk. II Target, in any of it's forms.

You've been given very good advice here. Don't overlook a Browning Buckmark. Or even an older Challenger. Both quite accurate. Buckmark is more$$$$.

If you own a 1911 don't overlook a 22 conversion kit. I have one from Kimber and it's very accurate for about $325 or a couple hundred less than a new Ruger how ever you want to look at it.

You might consider Smith & Wesson's 617. Dead nuts accurate, SA and DA action, 6 or 10rd cylinder, will accept a mount and scope or dot.........A bushytails worst nightmare
A Mark II, with a 1" Ultra Dot...Will equal or maybe outshoot Hammerli's, Hi-Standards, 41's and most all the "Hi End" 22's, and digest just about any cartrige that you can fit in the magazine.........At least mine does......Good Luck in your hunt, and Stay Safe.
I'm not as good as I was.....
But I'm the best I'll ever be....

I've owned a few of both (Single Six and Ruger MKI and MkII. In my experience the auto was a tad more accurate. I use them in IHMSA out to 100 yards w/o any issues ands never had a misfire to date.

Shot my Mark III Hunter for the first time today - still have a longing for a 617, Single Six, FA 22, etc...but very accurate and a sweet shooter.

I own a 6" S&W K-frame in 22mag with an extra cylinder in 22lr. She is a shooter with either barrel...
