I had the same thing happen on my 45-70 BFR and my custom 475, they both have bases held on with 8-40 screws now instead of 6-48

When you spend that kind of coin. Why trust some other nozzle head to mount it. Not to mention was he able to do it himself? I suspect a rookie w/more wallet than sense.

I mount ALL my scopes.Sorry,I just don't trust some 18 yr old kid sitting behind the counter at Gander mt etc.
