I have been thinking wouldn't be nice if Ruger would produce a Charger chambered for 44 magnum, like the rifle they used to produce. I bet it would be great for whitetail hunting, especially in these states that we have to use straight walled cartridges.Or maybe Magnum research would since they are producing a pistol simualar to the Charger. Is there a link to make suggestions to the company like this?Or has anything like it ever been made?

Revolvers work pretty good for that also.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

It would be nice but how many bullets do you actually need to put a whitetail down. Nice idea though!

That could be a fun,but expensive to shoot. I think that they should make one in a .223

My Bro had a Kel-Tec PLR 16 .223 pistol, it shot pretty good. Hardly had any kick to it!

The carbine only held 5 rounds. Revolvers 6?

I guess I was thinking different there as the Charger holding 10. I know what Revolvers hold, and some hold 5.

I'm wondering if someone didn't make a double stack, stick magazine along the same lines as the "hot lips" did for the 10/22. I seem to remember a guy at camp, back when I was a little guy, who had one of the 44 carbines but it had a big ol' mag sticking out of it. I remember seeing him shooting at a doe that was running "stretched out like a rope" about 100 yards away. He went bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, etc. Way more than five times, but I forgot to count. All he did was make her run faster, he, he, he. Maybe if he'd had a single shot he would have dropped her ;-)

Oh don't get me wrong. If Ruger made a 44 mag. like the Charger, they would have a hot selling gun. I guess we are always trying to explore new things with weapons. I am just as well satisfied with my revolver. Wasn't trying to shoot down the idea. I use to have a Deerfield, would still have it if it had a bigger magazine.

I agree. I have revolvers that handle that chore as well. I think the Charger may be bit unwieldy for quick shooting. Sometimes we think out loud. Hmmmm ;-)

I am a firm believer as I was taught "one shot, one kill" or maybe it was drilled into my while on Paris Island,S.C.However I know the first shot counts.I do not believe in chasing a running targets (while hunting animals), but multiple targets can be achieved.
I do agree a revolver would be alot easier to carry and to acquire on target.I never said it would be the best, just thought it could be interesting.

I was talking to a freind before the holidays about this same thing.
He has many Ruger 45's , He says that the action would drop right in -- The barrel would have to be made -or- use a short
carbine.
He's already tried a simmaler swap in a 10/22 stock

well the basis for the action seems to be the 10/22, so feasibly the actin would be the 44 carbine? 4 shot magazine
