Have have noticed that many of the videos on YouTube of people shooting big bore hand guns are of novices.

What your opinions on this matter, watch the videos below first to see what I mean.

No law against people w/little skill or experience spending their money. Same as w/cars & motorcycles. Buy more than they can handle. Then get hurt.

Love my cannon's but thats the first thing I ask if someone wants to shoot them,is what else have you shot and how often? Cuz they do kick "a Little"

Wow! I must say, for those that hand a inexperienced person any type of handgun are almost dummer than the one trying it! I mean none of them really looked like they even had a clue as to what was in there hand.

1st. that little girl had guts and held on to it best she could. Still wasn't scared to squeeze some more out.

2nd. no way, get the gun out of her hand. anybody needing a second person to help hold on definately should not be shooting.

3rd. I didn't think Gomer Pyle looked that young. You could see where that was going with the way he was fondling the gun like that.

4th. poster kids for not to do drugs!! Beavis and Butthead days are over. hee-hee ha-ha!

Gun safety should not be testing the beast!! I would like to give her a try though!!!!

Well - I fail to see what's funny about handing someone inexperienced just to see if you can hurt them with a hard kicking gun. Idiots!

What hope do we have of converting them to shooters when we treat them like that?

Amen Gary! I don't really find it to amusing just handing some newbie that type of gun! Every one of them probably would develop a false sense of shooting because of the little education someone didn't give them.

I just do not enjoy shooting someting that kicks that hard--- I guess that is why I don't have one.

I don't think I am recoil shy I just do not like when the gun gets that close to my head!

I like the idea of hunting with a big 50,but I know better.Not that they aren't controllable,just beyond my idea of pleasurable to shoot.I shot a home-made 12 guage pistol once and closed my eyes,didn't stop it from knocking me out,go ahead laugh it was funny.I have shot some big thumper long guns,but the biggest handgun,other than the 12,was a 480.Shooting something you are already afraid of is just as bad,from my experiences,as not knowing better.

I was cringing watching Number 3 hold the pistol! His offhand was dangerously close to sending some flesh downrange along with that big chunk of lead. The cylinder gap blast on those guns is NASTY...

well put Gary, I don't let anyone shoot my big bores that doesn't have the experience I think they need to at least not get hurt.

Years ago I let a guy shoot my 44 mag T/C ( 10" un-scoped ) with (stoked up 300 hard cast) I warned him about the recoil. What I did not expect is that shooting off the bench & bags that he would put his elbows on the table. The gun recoiled right back into his head placing the rear sight blade over his right eye left about a 1/2" cut to the bone. Blood everywhere

I remember starting to say something about his arms just about the time he pulled the trigger.

Still hurts to think about it.

I like watching the videos of people that don't know how to shoot big bores. But I never let anyone even shoot my .44mag without having experance or learning to shoot it with .44spl's first so they get some expereance first with the kick of those, then I feel better about moving them up to the Mags. If they are doing well that is.
But give me a good video of an newbie shooting and I laugh and have a good time at thier expence.

Typically a good gun lesson is needed to shoot any gun, muzzle control, safe muzzle positing, and other safety tips. Then comes the aiming and shooting practice. And lots of practice with no rounds in the chamber or cylinder. Then comes the shooting, I typically graduate shooters from 22s then up.
Big bores can be controlled, but novice shooters should in my view graduate up through the ranks.
Ex. When people ride motor cycles they start on 100cc or 500cc then graduate to the higher performance bikes.
Unfortunately, many people get a kick out of seeing their friends and family shoot a big bore, and want to get that kick as soon as possible, hence they skip the safety lesson. Big mistake. Also you can see in many of the videos the fear on these peoples face. In addition to peer pressure, Not knowing how the control the gun is leading to many of these incidents.

The videos are interesting to say the least. I get scared just watching them misshandle and almost hurt, and sometimes hurt themselves. It just proves stupid is as stupid does. And then post it on the net???? What are they thinking. OH wait a minute ... they arn't!! I forgot!!

Darwin had a theroy about reducing the gene pool. Sometimes we see it.

It's like when I see someone using a chainsaw and does not know what they are doing. Most of the time they come out on the right end of things, but if it goes bad it's a mess .

I've watched Video 3 about 5 times now and every time I can't help but laugh after the gun goes off... twice. There are so many things going wrong in that clip its unbelievable. I wonder where the tips of his fingers landed. The guy's reaction (I'm pretty sure its a male) is priceless. I know its not funny but I'm still laughing.

personally I'm not much on Darwin but I'm all for survival of the fittest and I say we help the process along by visiting the state and national capitols and culling the herd so to speak. We really need to improve the breeding pool and get the bad genes out. Just my sensitive, gentle, and politically incorrect way of saying what most of us think. You know if the ATF reads my posts while screening me for my ffl I might be in trouble

It is scary! I worked up to the big loads in guns and I consider my self to be a seasoned shooter. The fact of the matter is that I respect the tool for what it is. Lets face it, videos of stupid people like that give “us” a bad name. I would never even think about letting my wife start out with a load like that… much less one of my kids. Just not cool at all!

Back when I first started with hounds an elderly gentleman taught me the value of culling,to get a good pack,and he said if culling was done correctly through out time there would only be good hounds out there.Just imagine if people had been properly culled.......hmmmmm on second thought in my younger and dumber days,when I knew it all,and thought I was invinceable....well I probably wouldn't have made it.

we could always put a minimum age on the culling process to see if they'll make the cut or not.

Odds are you would have one hellava pile that did not make the cut!

As crazy as it may be; Thank God, we live in a free country, and we all have the freedom to try new things. Even if what we do is a mistake, at least we are free to find out for ourselves.

Rug1 got a point, we have the right to buy the biggest guns, then kill ourselves with them accidentally!
Dam Britain and most of Europe you can't buy guns without fifty permits. We are blessed.

As for culling, I live in south Florida,

Two car accidents a day, unfortunately a major hospital is 500 yards way. \:-|

I knew this guy doing some remodeling. He went to tear out some shelving boards out of a pantry. He went to swing upwards hard as hell with a hammer on a shelf that was about waist high. Funny thing, the board was not even fastened down. Man the board flew up and the hammer got him right between the eyes. LOL

I know that had nothing to do with the original topic but it is a funny story. I told the guy to save the embarrassment and not tell to many people that one! I laugh everytime I think about it.
