I've got this Optima on my 45LC Bisley, the dot is 7 MOA so it gets pretty big past 75 yards but it's good to 100 for deer.

I have tube dots on a 'Tender 45/410 and a Hawkeye ML, I also have scopes on a couple of revolvers. For 50 to 75 a dot is hard to beat, just keep an eye on your batteries ;-)

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Now thanks to Rod there, I got the D&T done the other day. I'm going to see if this shoots loose tomorrow as the weather is holding pretty good right now. I am interested in what Rod has on that Ruger... hint link hint please.

You all have a good one.

It works great! It is the single, best purchase I have made for handgun hunting. I have an Ultradot 30 on my custom SRH in .475 Linebaugh. $139.00 shipped with a lifetime warranty and it has put up with hundreds of full-tilt loads. The longest kill I've made is an 80-yard shot I made on a hog last year....... I highly recommend Ultradot.

Here 'tis.......

I have an ultra Dot 30mm on my ruger super blackhawk hunter 44 mag. It and the 1" millet were the only tube type red dots that would fits between the factory rings. It has digested hundtreds of full house 44 loads without difficulty. With a rest I can keep pretty much all of my shots inside a 9" paper plate at 100 yards. It has withstood rain and snow without difficulty and the dot has been bright enough to see even with heavy glare of snow. For my ability level and type of hunting there could be no better choice for me on a revolver.

I have the Ultra Dot 30MM on my Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter. I purchased the Ultra Dot because it fit between the factory rings. I really like it. I have not had any problmes with it and when I need another red dot I will go with another Ultra Dot.

I sure do like the looks of that Ultra Dot 30MM much better, so it looks like I will be getting one of those and will not have the current red dot on my 629.

Natchez is having a sale on the Ultra Dot right now, so may just get one of these ordered and be done with it.

You guys won't be disappointed. It's the single best purchase I have made that is gun related! They can handle a lot of recoil as well. I have subjected mine to MANY full-house .475 loads and it never misses a beat. Just to give you an idea of the recoil generated by a DA .475, it broke the set of Redfield rings I had on it originally. Ruger rings solved that problem.......

That is a 1" tube. You would be far better off to get a 30mm tube. I had a 1" Millett and couldn't stand it, but the Ruger rings were all that would allow. FOV sucked. I don't think the 1" Ultra would be much better. I have the UltraDot30 and it is like night and day, good rings too.

I find the 1-inch to be on the small side as well and would definietly recommend the 30 mm over it.

I'd recommend the 30mm over the 1".
