Since Ruger unveiled the Hunter model series of handguns, they've made them in .17HMR, .22 rimfire, .41 Mag, .44 Mag and .45LC. I have the .44 and .45 flavors and LOVE them! But it seems that they have hit the extremes with the cartridge selection...super small bore and then to the big bore side.

There looks to me to be a nice gap in the middle that they could introduce a new offering into. I thinking something along the lines of the 32-20 performance level....hmm...like maybe the new .327 Federal round?! Maybe just the good'ol .32H&R Magnum. Or even the .30 Carbine in a rimmed version.

Your thoughts??

i'd give my eye teeth for a 357 maximum hunter. fat chance........

the middle would still have to suffice for deer, and yet cover some varmint ground. otherwise....useless for good sales?

I wish, I'm looking for a used max to do a linebaugh max conversion on and for a gun with a serious flaw people are sure proud of them when it comes to selling them.

I'm hoping the 327 Federal really takes off and in the future it will be offered in a GP100 and the Hunter series. I also would like to see a few other handgun companies produce revolvers for it. A K~frame S&W would be cool.

It would be nice if they would offer one in the .357 Mag. Then we could bore it out to 356 GNR or 357/44 B&D. In the .327 they could fit 8 holes in a cylinder but I don't expect they would go down that road. I like that FA 22/327.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I wouldn't expect to see Ruger offer a Hunter in new calibers anytime soon. Even the 41 and 45 Colts were contracted by distributors and given Ruger's current manufacturing process you won't likely see repeat of that anytime soon either. I spoke with a distributor this week at SHOT and it took them 4 years to get a gun produced through Ruger.

I read in the Shot Show report where Ruger is considering discontinuing the Black Hawk and Red hawk line because they are big, ugly, cumbersome and useless to use for anything other than a hammer! --not to mention that the Hunter line is considered inaccurate compared to the Single shot peestolas!

only big and ugly when someone breaks into where they don't belong and finds them self looking at the wrong end of one.

as far as compairing acuracy of hunter line and single shots that is like copmairing a pickup and a sports car.

both are in a different class.

give me the pickup for the off road.

sports car for the street race.

in this environment I would imagine that single shot pistols will go before single action revolvers since there has already been talk about outlawing handguns chambered in rifle cartridges along with heavy hitters like the 500S&W.

Yo guys-it was a stinking joke okay? When and if they can outlaw one, they will get the rest! That's why the assault ban was so dangerous. You might not have a use for one, but you better not give up the right to own one. Besides, outlawing pistols chambered in rifles cartridges is absurd. How does anyone know how many TC barrels you own? The 50 cal that is banned in some states is the US 50 BMG not the S&W. If you read the anti-gun on semi autos print, a double action revolver is a semi auto by their definition. 1 shot for every time you pull the trigger. That is semi auto!!

The 45 Bisley Hunter is by far the rarest. Although there was one made by the factory for testing in 1998 or 1999 in 22 Hornet. Guess that didn't go so well.

I'd love to see one in 480. Jeff Quinn of Gunblast.com said he spoke to the Ruger CEO recently in regards to producing a SS 5 shot Bisley in 480 and was suprised to find him rather interested. Sign me up.

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a handgun today.

I have a 45 Bisley Hunter. I don't know if it would have ever had collectors value, but I had David Clements heavily customize mine and it is now far from being a stock gun.
