well.....i'm 41 years old today. over the hill......sigh

what kinnda old handguns ya got? i don't really have anything too old. oldest i can think of is a 200XXX serial # contender frame. it is "easy open" variety, but still has the thumb push safety.
such a shame..... i should have some good "3 screw" ruger revolvers......or even a "flattop"....but i don't.

i also should have a good xp-100 er 2....but i don't. i remember trying to order a 7-08 xp-100, with laminated stock etc. think it was a hunter model but it was too late.....my gunman couldn't get it.

got any good oldies?

Happy Birthday Kyode!
Yeah you maybe over the hill but it aint that bad, heck I turn 44 next week and I think I've bought just as many if not more guns/barrels etc. since I turned 40 than I ever did before....well maybe it just seems that way but I do keep more of em than I used to so you see, things are lookin up!
I only have one old one that my father left me, its a 61/2" 44Mag Flat top ser #13xxx that according to Ruger was made/shipped late 1958.

This isn't a hunting handgun but I have a CZ-52 that was mfg. somewhere around the 40s-50s. Not much of a gun but got it for $120 w/ some accessories three years ago.

I have a couple of old H&R 2" barrel revolvers. I wish they were 4 inch but the little 10 shot 22 was my Granddads and I got the 38 S&W about a year ago because it was cheap and I knew the quality of the little 22 I had and I wanted something else to handload for.

emm,lessee...# screw Rugers,yeap,3 of em.22 Single six,357 and 41 mag. All 6 1/2" barrels, then there's the 1911 in 38 Super with a 4 dig. ser #,Had a Contender,#39612 that was stolen,so if any of ya come across that one in a gun store notify the FBI for me will ya? Had a Flatgate Ruger 22 taken at the same time #18513,I would sure like those back folks. Got a lot of the "long guns" that are pre-1900 also, but we got other sites to talk about those.

Your post reminded me of my first handgun. A Ruger single six .22 with a 5 1/2" barrel. My dad got me the first one sent to our local gunstore with the transfer bar safety system (early '70s} I used and abused that pistol and it always shot great Trapline, hunting plinking it went with me everewere. I sort of retired it after my dad died in the early '80s, kinda as a keepsake. Maybe I ought to dust it off for the upcoming squirrel season. But then I'd have to give up using Dad's old Colt offical police .22 Circa 1961. Choices can be tough!

Hey Kyode, first off I want to wish you a belated happy birthday. And just to make you feel a little better, I'll let you know that I'll be turning 49 in a little under two weeks. So even at 41 you still got 8 years to catch up with me.
Your post only brings to mind the great guns that I sold off, rather than the great ones I have now. Although I have decided to buy a S&W model 17 or 18. I've been kicking this around for a few weeks now. I've got one local dealer who has an K22 that was manufactured in 1947, and another local dealer who has a 17-3, pinned barrel with the target trigger and hammer. Still can't decide which way to go, but I do want to try to make up for lost time and buy just a few great guns from the past, to make up for the ones I let get away.

I have my grandfathers S&W he bought in the 20's in 32=20 and my fathers Ruger 357 he bought in the 60's. These go to my grandson after I'm gone. Need to get the 357 out and do some shooting with it some.

Well, it's not exactly a hunting handgun, but I've got an old .22 Luger semi-auto. I'm not real sure of the history of the gun, as it was passed down to me by my grandpa. It does shoot good though, and makes for a good conversation piece.
