I have no personal experience but a feller posted over at SP that it works as advertised, he was a happy with it. I use an Explorer monopod and it gets the job done but I may try this new one.

No hunting experience with the trigger-stick but I have handled and used it at Gander Mtn and it seemed to function pretty well. The monopod version is very light. I see they make a bi-pod version now too. I use the BOG PODS red legged devil bi pods and they work excellent. They're lightweight, silent and very sturdy.

I have have two of them, they work great. They are the long version. I put a little lock tight on the head so it would not loosen when really using it. Very solid.

I will sell you one of them that is brand new, just out of the package but still have the package. I bought it for a hunt and forgot it. I bought a new one at the KC Cabela's and just use that one all season. They sell for $50 I will ship you this on efor $40. Save me a trip to Cabelas.

I couldn't justify buying aluminum sticks so I went to home depot and bought 2 oak dowels 4' long 1/2" diameter. A little sanding and finishing with truoil made them weatherproof. Then I cut a piece of leather 3/8" wide and 1 foot long and wrapped and tied the two dowels together. After you tie them together take one dowel and turn it 360 degrees. This takes any slack out of the strap so when you spread it further it pulls tight and locks it in place. Put the ends back together and you can slide the strap up and down to adjust elevation. For me it works great I've used them for about 5 years now.

I've got stoney point monopod, short shooting stix and tall shooting stix and the tripod adapter for one set of each and I have the stoney point tripod. I also have some I made with dowels and leather but I use them with my old lever guns, kind of a nostalgia thing. I find myself primarily carrying my short stoney point bipods because the fit in my back pocket. Kind of off topic but do any of you know if you can get replacement elastic for the shooting stix, I have four sets and two of them the elastic string is shot and won't pull it back together anymore. I must say although I have not taken near the number of animals with a handgun as many of the guys here I have found that most of my field shooting is either off hand or using a "rest of opportunity such as a tree limb or fence post, for varmints sometimes the door of my truck.

I don't have "official" shooting stix but I made some using a tent pole repair kit I got at Scheel's. I think it is the same elastic string as on the Stony's and you can get it in any decent sporting goods store in the camping department. There is enough in one kit to do a few sets of stix.

i have some i made work will, but was looking for something faster to us out of a deer stand most of my deer hunting is out of some kind of lock on stand with no rails so i thought the trigger stick would be the way to go. primos shows them using it out of a stand all the time on the hunting show

I've never hunted from a tree stand but the trigger stick sounds like it would work perfectly for what you need.

The Explorer monopod I have works great out of a deer stand, but it is not real quick to change length. The trigger should make this one the cat's meow for when they come into view where you didn't expect them to, which is most times.

I'm also considering a stick option for tree stands. This alternative looks nifty, at least in theory, but I haven't heard that anybody is actually using them:

They're relatively speaking very inexpensive so I might try them anyway....but all suggestions would be welcome. The Trigger stick thingy has got some bad reviews on Cabela's webpage review system - people complain about the trigger mechanism breaking down quickly etc.

well got them yesterday seem to be well made and work real nice. i really like the rubber strap on top holds my 480 and 460 just as steady as any pistol rest that i use on the range. headed to the land tommorrow going to try it out.

well used the trigger stick today. shot the 460 and 480 off the stick works real well. praticed like i was in my deer stand shot 2in groups with the 460 out to 50yards with them. i do believe they will be just what i was looking for to use out of a deer stand.
