What grips do you have on your Redhawk?

I put some Hogue rubber grips on a while back and I really don't like them. They seem to be too narrow for my hand. When I grip the gun the pressure is felt in my fingers and the heel of my palm but their is almost no contact with my mid palm. Not comfortable at all.

I can't seem to find many options for rubber grips for the Redhawk. There are quite a few for the GP and SuperRH. I may end up having to go back to wood.

I like the factory wood grip

I had the same trouble to find a grip for my Redhawk. But nothing really worked. No rubber could satisfy me. And now I went back to wood. Great fit and finish and I love the handling of my Redhawks with the Herrett and Nill grips.

Although they are pretty ugly, Pachmeyr makes a grip for the Redhawk. I'm not a big fan of them, but it is wider than the Hogue and should fill your hand better.

I shoot a Redhawk and have tried several grips, including the Hogues (2 types), Pachmayr, factory grips, and the Herret's (again 2 types). I took my Redhawk on two trips to Gunsight, where I shot approximately 600 rounds with the various grips. I finally settled on the Hogue monogrip. I have relatively small hands, and the Hogue monogrip and the factory wood were the two best. I tried the Herret Roper like Ravenman has above, and I hated it. It was supposed to dampen recoil, but to me it made it worse. I sent them back (100% guaranteed), and Steve sent a second set with the backstrap filled in. This helped some, but it was still worse than the factory grips. Unforetunately the improved grips were too big for my hand and my shooting suffered. They do have a right side palm swell that definitely fills the hand.

This was truly disappointing to me because I really liked the looks of the Herrets. I guess I bought into the three rules of Gunsight: 1) look good, 2) shoot good, 3) if you can't shoot good make sure that you look good.

By the way, I have a set of Herret Roper stocks that fit a Redhawk for sale if you are interested! I would be willing to let them go for half price.

I have the Hogue's on mine - switched from the Pachmayr's that were on there when I purchased, and like them much better...

Have any of you looked at Badgers grips?

I have had a number of Redhawks the 4" came with one of the new short Hogues on it. I did not like it. My old 5.5" came with a large Hogue I swaped it for the factory Rosewood grip. The 7.5" scoped RH that TCMan longed for has come back to me and may never again be lost. It has been fitted with a very nice but rare set of Factory Red & Black Rosewood lam grips. For my big monkey hands there is no better than the factory wood Rugers.

I'm just the opposite. The Hogue rubber grips on my 4" Redhawk are a perfect fit for my hands.

Nothing wrong with wood. Hogue has some nice wood for the Rugers, but often you have to wait for it.

I have very large hands and the factory wood feels good to me. I do generally enjoy Hogue grips too, but I have not used them on this gun.

I like the stock wood grips over the rubber grips. I thought about trying to make some custom ones myself,but I am happy with the stock wood. Plus I think that the wood grips look better.

i like the factory grip.

I have Pachmayrs on all my heavy hitters, it made a world of differance on the 45-70, even on my GP100 with hot .357 loads was alot better at rapid fire. I'll try the factory wood on the soon to be here Ruger .480 and see how they feel.

If I want rubber I go with this one.

I picked up my SRH .480 on Friday and went to the range on Sat. The factory grips were a bit large for me and after 5 rounds my whole hand was throbbing. My buddy fired one round and he said ouch too. I ordered the rubber finger grove grips from Ruger, (they look like Hogues), so, I take those for a spin.
