OK, so I picked up a good deal on a used GP100 .357 last week.
I got aroung to shooting today and it is binding after the first shot doubble or single action. The cylinder needs help to turn.
Unload it, rotate it, load it, same thing. First shot doubble or single action very smooth, next shots rough or not at all. My guess is someone has played gunsmith on it. It will dry fire all day doubble or single action as if the recoil causing something to get out of whack.

Any thoughts?
I would return it but the dealer is on other side of the state.

if you send it to Ruger they should take care of it at no charge, just let them know that you just bought it used from a dealer and what the problem is. There are too many possibilities to positively diagnose it.

I wanted to let everyone know what kind of service to expect with Ruger. In March I mailed off a GP100 to Ruger that would not function properly. I suspected it had been tampered with as I bought it second hand and told them so. Well, today I called to follow-up on my revolver and was told it was shipped earlier this week. When I asked how much I owed the lady told me there would not be a charge, despite the lengthly repair list that included a polish. This is outstanding service for what we have come to expect from large companies.

Thank you Ruger,

Shawn

Appreciate the Ruger report.

It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

Sorry to hear about your handgun, A friend of mine sent back
his mini 14 cause it grouped 2 in. at 100 yrds and they done all
kinds of stuff to it for FREE and sent it back.
It shoots 3/4 in groups at 100 yrds now..
Ruger has always stood behind their firearms and have prospered
because of it, I'm sure they will be you right on it.

I have a half-dozen revolvers and they share one thing in common, all RUGERS as their reputation preceded them. Thanks for the update, and glad it went well for you.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Yes, I'm not a bit suprised...Ruger's customer service is 2nd to none!

The GP100 was returned with new springs, the old ones were in an envelope packaged with the gun. Near as I can tell someone had put in lighter springs.
