Anyone have experience with Burris' warranty service?

I called them today. Said they had around a 5 week turn around. Not too horribly bad. I'll ship it tomorrow. This scope may be up for sale after return/replacement.

I noticed last week that the ocular lens was dusty. Upon close inspection, I could see it was several tiny specs of unk material on the inside of the scope.

Today I fired one round and shook something loose. Can't get a good picture now, no matter the eye angle or relief. Must be a prism.

The scope was never great anyway. 10x and up is fuzzy, parallax is ugly, and eye relief is critical. First time I opted for a scope other than Leupold. I knew better!

I haven't had any problems with my Burris pistol scopes,or my Leupold for that matter. Might of been bad from the start and it just let loose, give em a chance and see what you think. Let us know when you get it back too.

seems like the Burris scopes having more failure problems than normal over the last year or so. I've never dealt with their customer service but everyone says they do good. The 5 weeks is longer than anyone has said they've had to wait and if that's accurate I would be concerened that they are having to spend to much time fixing broken scopes. I've dealt with Leupold on a screw up of my own making, I broke a lens on my rangefinding bino's and had a new pair in a week at no charge to me. Good luck and I hope they get it done faster than that, it seems like 2 weeks should be max turn around for any optic or firearm company unless their techs are too busy doing warranty work.

I bought an old 5X w/ target turrets several years ago and the rear lense had the rubber seal cracked. I contacted Burris and sent it back...about 10 days later it was back and corrected at no cost to me.

On another note...jimmylee sent a scope back for a BP install. Less than 20 days later it was returned. I'll soon be packaging up four scopes to return for BP installations...will let you know how long it takes.

Sorry to hear about your problem.
Every scope company will have some problems. The key is customer service. Burris and Leupold have always been great in that area, as well as some other companies, but I use them the most.

UPS just dropped the scope off. Looks good so far. I'll mount it and take it to the range Thursday.

No good. I fired 30 rds today and never got more than 3 in a row to group. Zero walks all over the paper. And there's still some little black specs on the lens.

I agree and I'm real surprised, I favor Leupolds myself and I've noticed and increase in failures among the Burris stuff but Burris has been a first rate company and to get one back still messed up just really seems screwed up. Maybe it's just a lemon and they need to give you a new one. I like the 3-12 since Leupold doesn't make that high power of a LER and I just about ordered one for my 7GNR the other day but I'm starting to think I'll just stay with the 2.5-8 Leupold.

I've always been a Leupold guy too. Thought I'd try Burris since Leupold 2.5-8 is so expensive.

Dropped Burris an email yesterday asking what they're gonna do to make it right. I want a new scope, but I'm not putting it on anything that recoils. I'll probably build an XP in 223 or 6x45 this year.

I'll put one of my Leupold 4x's back on the XP and try to justify to "Household 6" the need for a Leupold 2.5-8 before deer season.

Have you tried Weaver's 2.5-8. I like them better than Leupies, and less than half the money. I just bought a new Burris 3-12 myself, I hope I have better luck with mine. Sucks if $350 can't get you quality optics.....

I just mailed a brand new 2x Burris in for warranty work this week. It last all of 2 rounds thru a 10" 44 mag. The reticle blew out and crushed the lense inside. I dont know what the deal is but they are not making them like they used to. I have older Burris scopes on some big kickers and never a problem.

s4s4u, I've looked at Weaver's 2.5-8 but I've learned my lesson...again. Confidence is worth more to me than saving a few bucks. I want to know that my equipment can out shoot me. I'll suffer a Leupold 4x until I can get a Leupold 2.5-8.

I won't trust a bushnell on a boomer, I blew a 3200 up after one cylinder on my 500 Linebaugh. The only reason I had the scope is natchez had sold them out for 150.00 so I bought a couple but I'm with Ranger that confidence is priceless and while the occassional Leupold may fail they are far and away the most reliable handgun scope on the market, the price may be high but you get what you pay for.

I probably won't even unwrap the box.

Leupold 2.5-8 on the way. Caught the last day of Midway's sale. Should see the new Burris soon too but I've got no use for it.

I SENT A 3x9 BURRIS BACK FOR REPAIR ABOUT 9 WEEKS AGO. HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS EVERYONE ELSE: LENS GOT DUSTY, WOULDN'T KEEP POINT OF AIM. IT SERVED ME WELL ON MY 375jdj FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS. UNFORTUNATELY THE PERFORMANCE LASTED ABOUT 300 ROUNDS, THEN ALL WENT TO @##@. I COULDN'T EVEN KEEP MORE THAN ONE ROUND ON PAPER AT A TIME. STILL WAITING ON A RESPONSE FROM BURRIS. SCOPE IS IN REPAIR HEAVEN AS FAR AS I KNOW. BEST OF LUCK ON THE REPAIR.

sorry about your luck with the burris, and it sucks to have trouble....but i have quite a few burris scopes, and several of them are the 3x12(maybe 6...loose count). i wouldn't trade you even up for the leupold 2.5x8! the leup is a great scope i know, but not enough x's for me in some instances, and i've had NO trouble with my burris scopes.
depends on the use....but for target/varmint rigs, the 3x12 wins in my book. i would accept your leup for one of my deer rigs though. that is if you decide to give it away....lol.

I had a Burris that was on my 309 JDJ. It started losing zero so I sent it back. When I returned I put it back on the barrel and it lasted maybe 50 shots. I sent it back again, and it's now on my 223 Remington barrel. A cheap 2.5x7 Simmons is on my 309 now. It's been on several hunts with no issues.

Shoots good.

On 8x, my Leupold's eye relief is crazy long. I've got an extension base on my XP, the scope is all the way forward, and I still need about 3" more arm. I'm 73" so I can't imagine what short guys have to do.

This scope is not made for mid-grip guns. Talked to my buddy who has one on his BFR and he's got the same issue.

The turrets say 1/4 min clicks, box says 1/2 min. It is 1/2" min.

It's still way better than what I had.

I had a Burris on a 30-30 barrel with no problem for years. I moved the same scope to a 375JDJ barrel and it broke after 6 shots. I sent it back and have shot about 50 rounds through it with no problem. Burris repaired my scope and sent it back to me. I know this because I wrote the serial number done before shipping.

The replacement Burris held up to deer season and a lot of range time. 10x & up has poor clarity like the old one.

Wish I could use the Leupold 2.5-8. Guess I'll save it for the Encore I'm planning on picking up.

I have several Contender barrels with handgun scopes. One has a 2x Leupold, the rest have 2x Burris. By the way, all of my Burris scopes are marked with large letters on the eye piece, "Made in USA" No problems with any. And all of the calibers are pretty stout. I had a 2x Tasco. Big waste on the Tasco. I recently bought a Ruger Super Single Six Hunter and wanted to try a reasonably priced scope. I heard good things about Simmons, so I did some research on Midway's site as far as customer ratings for different scopes. What I found was customer ratings for the 4x fixed power Simmons were really good. Ratings for the variable power 2x-6x Simmons were horrible. I got the 4x. It seems variable power handgun scopes in general have higher failure rates than fixed powers. Makes sense, because there are more moving parts. Any comments on that?
