Went out this afternoon to a local ranch after the wife went to work. Had just put a new Holland 6.5-20 Leupold first focal plane with his Ultimate Mil Reticle-- ( http://hollandguns.com/ )in it, and zeroed it at 200 yds. on a rock--XP-100 6.5 WSM 140 A-Max @ 2750 mv.

I have been having some problems with my comeups not matching the trajectory so i recalcd. the system using a G7 drag coefficient on the JBM ballistics program site, and once zeroed shot at a spot on a big rock at 670 yds. and missed it 2" left--amazing!!

Drove a couple miles down the road and parked the vehicle. Gathered my gear and headed over to the edge of a low bluff. Glassed for just a minute maybe when i spotted a bedded dog lasered at 740 yds. There was some wind so i elected to get closer. I then lasered a teppe butte about 300 yds. away, so i stalked down the ridge slowly until the top of the tepee butte was between the dog and i, and took off to the shady side of the butte. The dog was still in the same spot so i crawled to a shooting spot and zapped him at 435. The dope sticker in my Butler Creek scope cap cover said 1.3 mils for 400 and 1.6 for 450, so i figured 1.5 mils. About 5 mph wind so i held about .1 mil into it, checked parallax and touched it off. The bullet hit him in the back right side and exited about 3" in diameter through the chest and upper gut. He stood, stumbled and fell over. He was breaking (shedding) so i left him.

Holland sure has a great system of reference, IMO.

Steve....VERY NICE!!

How do you like the 6.5WSM?? I've been thinking about getting a "beefed up" 6.5 lately. Who built that for you?

Yessiree Shawn--i do.

Dan, this one was built by Chunk Youngblood here in town. It's got a 17" Shilen on it. I'm not besting my 6.5-284 at all yet for velocity. It's an accurate rig tho.

Hey Steve, I remember when we first ran into each other about 22? years ago (I was hunting antelope on Ragsdale's ranch with my 6.5 JDJ Contender)and you showed me one of your XP's and I saw how serious you were about these long range handguns. Keep up the good work. Gregg
