A little over two weeks ago my wife and I went to our local gun shop and ordered a stainless Encore frame for me and a stainless Contender frame for her? We were told it would be the normal 3 days and they should be in. The next day I was informed that none of there distributors had any frames. As of today still no frames. Has anyone else had a hard time finding a frame, or heard of a frame shortage?

I ordered two G-2 frames in early January. Got them last week.

I'm not sure what's up, I bought my G2 frame on closeout from one of the Sportsmans warehouse stores here in Oregon and they weren't going to get anymore in and they were doing away with contender barrels. I didn't aske about encores but they didn't have any frames in and about 8 calibers to choose from in barrels. The only thing they had very many of were front loaders. I don't know that they are going to make it through this downturn in the economy and it's been mentioned on this site that there are rumors of their demise floating around.

So order from Ed's, EA brown, or Ron's TC. Ron will treat you right for sure! I went to a local show last week and picked up a blued pistol frame $315 +tax.

The gist of the problem is that loser company S&W bought the T/C company thinking only of the barrel making facility and got rid of the folks at T/C that knew what they were doing to make/sell firearms..S&W sent T/C into a downward spiral..S&W now admits it was a wrong move to purchase T/C. Losers always pull everyone down with them..

Although I won't put it quite as harshly as PsyopsE6, I won't disagree with his sentiment. You see, I happen to have lived right here in New Hampshire my entire life. In fact, I grew up one town north of the T/C factory. I grew up with people whose parents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters worked at the factory. I have friends and aquaintances that worked there for many years. T/C was a prominent employer for Rochester and surrounding towns. Quality home town pride and workmanship was the lifeblood of T/C for 35 years. Many buisness decisions have affected T/C. Some positive, some not so positive. PsyopsE6 is also right in saying that T/C lost some good people after the S&W Buy. Good people in R&D, Corporate Sales, as well as Good factory techs that had worked for T/C for most of those 35 years. I have had recent dealings with Fox Ridge Outfitters(right next to the factory)and the new head of T/C customer service for a warrantee item (they replaced the barrel on my 54 cal. Renegade because the rifling had finally burned out of the first 12" or so at the breech end - some 1500 rounds and 23 years later - FREE OF CHARGE!). I have no quarrel with him or Fox Ridge. Rob, the guy you would talk to on the phone for custom items at Fox Ridge is a friend of mine. But I can't help feeling, after talking with so many folks that I personally know who worked at T/C for many years, that things will never be the same, and that possibly the once bright shining star of T/C is burning out. I hear rumblings of Browning showing an interest. Fox Ridge IS a browning dealer. With the local economy as it is, folks are just either holding their breath, or looking elswhere for more secure employment. T/C was once VERY secure local employment. Folks here don't feel so good about saying that any more.

I read on msn that smith and wesson was one of two stocks that was up and that they had over 4.5 million back orders. That maybe the reason.

I walked into a steal with my frame, 260.00 for a blued G2 frame, but like I said it was the last one they planned on carrying.

Well thanks for the input guys. My dealer is usally pretty good with having things or getting them in 3 days or less. I have gotten 4 other frames from them without any wait or problems. I guess I will give them to the end of the week to see if they have located any frames. These frames were going to be 325.00 apiece. If it is just a backorder problem that would be fine, worse that could happen would be the MGM barrels would show up first. I just worried that this is a sign of things to come.

I don't think blaming S&W for TC's loss is the answer. Both S&W and TC have a strong following. S&W might admit some wrong doing there, but that could have happened to whoever bought TC.

If you think TC is getting the squeeze now, wait until FA releases their single shot. Even the people that have a TC setups are going to flop down for one of those. A handful of people on here too!

I find that extremely hard to believe, unless they're only talking AR's and hicap semi's which are being hoarded.

Not I. I have seen and do not like the ergo's. If you like the old plowhandle grip on the SA's you may like it. I see no reason to own one, especially at 3 times the money.

My point is that if FA is going all out to make another addition to there line of guns, then there is a market for it. I never said I would pay for one, but they will sell! I don't really care for a single shot myself. I got a 44mag. for in the woods and that is about the only place I hunt. I do just fine with my hunting weapons.

Not trying to steal this thread, but has anyone heard of when the FA single shot might be available? I am likely one of the foolish ones who will be among the first in line.

I went to 4 other dealers and not one of them could locate a frame to have shipped. Of course all of the dealers can put me on a waiting list with there suppliers, which is where I am at now. Both frames had been paid for before I knew they were not available.

I dont think FA is going to make much difference. With that said I am sure some with buy them. Like s4s4u said, I dont care for the FA and I am not sure the TC fans all going to run to FA. I will stick with the TC's.

TC has been in a class of their own for years.Only ones to make a gun with multipule barrel options like they have. When FA gets into that market TC will have competition, even if FA is in a different price and quality range.

Hey Jeremy buddy, you need to take those "rose colored glasses" off and take a look around you..no one else bought TC Smith did to get a barrel producing facility..PERIOD.they had no intentions of upgrading or marketing TC..they immediately removed all or most of the people in TC that had any ability to run TC at a profit and keep it going forward..
Firearms manufactors are no better than the gas companies were a year ago, they are preparing to "scalp" the distributors who will then pass that increase on to us...look at the SCAR, preorders are at $4200.00 for a $1700.00 firearm, who's making the profit??? come on guys be realistic, this is a cope out on a political agenda....

PsyopsE6, you are a funny man! You call S&W a loser company that needed another facility to make barrels. Did S&W have an issue with barrel making? TC is putting out plenty of 2009 firearms. Although they are rifles and muzzleloaders, they are coming out with them. That is upgrading and marketing. That ol' boy, is S&W.

For your learning, I wear Costa Del Mar, blue mirror. And I have no problem seeing with or without them.
