I am starting down a new path to me. That is reloading large, 375JDJ, rounds. I have reloaded 30-30, 35Rem and 7-30 stuff for the contender but 375JDJ has caused me to ponder the use of a neck crimp die. I started using them primarily for my wheel guns to prevent the slug from locking the cylinder. Is there an advantage to neck crimping for use with the Contender? If you do neck crimp, have you witnessed an accuracy change? Thanks in advance. Rick

I don’t use a neck crimp for my single shots. I use them on my 44’s for my revolvers but I don’t for my 44 in my Encore. There is only one round in the gun at a time and I don’t have to worry any other rounds being jarred. If I was using a magazine I would think about it with larger calibers. JMHO.

Some fellers claim better accuracy and tighter ES when they crimp certain loads, like the 357 Max and others. I haven't really spent any time on it but I can understand the reasoning, the crimp holding the bullet in the case for a little longer. I don't think a crimp can hurt anything, as long as you do it the same every time.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Every barrel and chamber is different. Try some crimped and some that are not. Look for signs of pressure and see how accurate your loads are then make the decision to crimp or not to crimp, but usaully not on a single shot.
