We still grow some big bears in the lower 48. This was not too far from here. Too bad it wound up as road kill.

I would hate to stumble into a bear like that while walking to the tree stand in the dark. To bad it got hit on the road and not got by a hunter.

They are still protected in the lower 48. Hiking late in the evening definitly becomes more interesting when you come across a half gallon size pile of grizzly droppings!
