I went this weekend to the local shop and was going to get some large primers. The owner said don't have , can't get em.. I went to another shop same thing, finally I went to Kielser in Jeffersonville and brought the last box of large pistol primer and they were magnum... Whats up is this a local thing or nation wide. I usually buy primers local to avoid haz mat fee.

By the way I got a very nice Smith 681 in .357 for $350 been looking for a good one for awhile

Its pretty much that way across the country from what I'm hearing. Midway, Midsouth and Natchez are out of most the components that I use.

Yeah, people are gobbing up everything, just like generators prior to Y2K, and we know how necessary those were :-(

All this does is drive the cost up, and I'll bet all for nothing in the end ;-)

I tried to order a .308 shellholder 'cause I can't find mine, and now I'm screwed because some paranoids sucked them all up :-o

I've been checking on the web all morning off and on. No large rifle or small rifle primers to be had anywhere either. Powder is also getting scarce.

There may or may not be a reason to go to the extent that some people have but one thing for sure is it is sending a very loud and clear message to the politicians. I picked up a blackhawk the other day and apparently the approval # from the instant background check actually indicates the # of guns sold since the beginning of the year which here in Oregon is just under 40,000 so you can bet obama and his buddies are very much aware and concerned about the numbers of guns, ammunition and components going out the doors of sporting goods stores as it has done a fair job of castrating his plans of banning "assault" weapons or implementing ballistic fingerprinting since there is too much of it out there to ever round up and every day more and more of it is going out the doors of stores and into households across the country.

Here in Tucson, Az the gun shops have posted signs limiting sales of primers to 2000 per customer and no more than two pounds of powder. The last gun show in town I was in line a half hour prior to opening. Once it opened the majority of people beelined to the loaded ammo sales. I headed for the reloading area to get 2000 lrge pistol primers and could not find Vita Vourri powder, at the gun show or anywhere in town!

East coast west coast...the story is all the same.

I picked up some small rifle primers on Gunbroker last night because I couldn't find them anywhere else. I know that I paid too much for them, but it was the only game in town.

I may be wrong I have been before on several occassions but I feel like the powder,bullets,and primer surge will slow and things on shelves will start to grow.May take a little time but I feel it will.Kind of like trying to buy bread and milk when a hurricane is been predicted.If you ain't at the store when the weather man says one is probably going to hit,you won't get any bread or milk.

I have about 1500 of each kind of primers and several pounds of powder. I had the primers stored at at my folks house in ammo cans with a some desiccant. They still work great. I'm glad I never gave them up when I left California.

Ive seen small pistol go on gunbroker for upwards of 77.00 as of late some rifle primers going over 160.00 Ron

well I've got a little over 12,000 primers and 60lbs of powder plus 6lbs of black powder and about a 1000 percussion caps so I think I'm safe for a month or two. I almost forgot I also have somewhere around 15,000 bullets, lot's of brass and about 5000 rds of rimfire.

I started rebuilding my stock 2 years ago when it looked like the U.S. was going to be scrapping with Iran and North Korea. The same rounds of .223 ammo that I paid .28 for are going for .68 now, if you can find them. Pretty much the same for .357, 40 cal. and you can forget about .45's........
